November 2010 - Biology (E/M)

@goldnano
i put random shift in allelic frequency cuz its genetic drift (bottleneck or founder effect)

@biogenius: is it the question with binomial the recessive trait?

Did everyone put 40 for the answer for one with a graph?

What about the huge karyotype? I put that the female had downsyndrome.

^yes

Yeah, I put 40. Just a question involving with that graph: what is the dependent factor? The rate of sugar conversion by enzyme?

^yes. it was the y axis.
What did u put for the likely location? i put a tempersomething pond

I saw that it thrives the most in 70C so a hot spring I guess.

it was in C? effffffmyliiiiffffeeeee
i didnt even look at the units

I put hotspring.
I also put down syndrome, but I’m pretty sure it’s wrong. Down’s syndrome is when there are 3 of chr. 21

@goldnano
i put the rate of sugar production cuz this is the variable that is changing in respect to pH and temperature (independent variables)
another answer to this part was something three dimensional structure of amylase (cuz it denatures)
and the question that i was confused was: i what environment the amylase would be found? i put hot spring cuz amylase seemed to work best at 80 degrees celcius

I thought there were 3 chromosomes in 21 ???

what was the answer to the hormone one, it included cytokines, abscisic acid, gibberellin, ethlyene, i put cytokines which is cell division, think thats right

goldysocks, there were 3 for chromosome 21. which is why i put it

@goldy
down syndrome is right for the karyotype cuz it was trisonomy-21 for XX (female)

i dont think its hot springs cause thats similar to tropical rainforest. it said amylase breaks down starch which occurs in our body, so i put human gut

@biologyThat’s what I put for all of those. However, I though amylase was a digestive enzyme…so I was a little thrown off, but I based my answer on the graphs. The pH was far too basic for the human stomach, and the temperature was far too high.
Okay @ the down syndrome, I remembered it have chrom. 23 deleted. yayyy! :)

Justin Bieber you’re right about the cytokinin and cell division

human gut ph is like 2 or 3. it worked best at like 8

How can it be 70 celsius in a tropical rainforest ==".
Cytokine is right :D

@goldy
amylase is in your mouth (saliva) that breaks down starch as food comes in
