<p>I’m a semi-finalist for the 1.China summer, 2.Korea summer, and 3.China Year programs. I am so excited!!!Does anyone know how large the semi-finalist applicant pool is and how many scholarships they are planning on giving out? In other words, what are the chances of getting a scholarship?</p>
<p>I know that they are giving out 600 scholarships this year. Just wondering, if anyone received the scholarship in years past, would you mind posting some stats
Ie class rank, language knowledge, age, country requested, and some activities that you participate in</p>

<p>If any of you didn’t send in a parent recommendation (I didn’t because there was a large scale black out in my area), we called to check if it would be detrimental to my application, and they said they would review it even without the letter! 
They obviously did because I’m a semi finalist as well!</p>

<p>Do you guys know how strict they are about deadlines? For some reason I thought the signed terms and conditions and transcripts weren’t due until Dec. 21. Obviously they were due the 1st. I sent my high school transcripts in at the beginning of November, but just sent in my community college ones a few days ago, past the deadline, along with the late signed papers. I was notified of being a semi finalist on the seventh, before they received my late mailed items. </p>
<p>So basically I’m wondering if having the terms and conditions a week late as well as my CC transcripts (even though they already had my HS ones) will hurt my chances. I am a semi finalist.</p>

<p>@Sarkia: I’d assume your percentage will be higher, as Tajikstan isn’t as popular as, say, China or Korea.</p>
<p>@Robia13: They asked me things like why I chose my country, how you’ve dealt with being in a new place, times you’ve tried new things and had difficulty, how you’d deal with overprotective host parents.</p>

<p>It was pretty relaxed, basically like a conversation. But I heard it was supposed to last 45min? Mine only lasted ~30…</p>

<p>Did you feel that you were at a disadvantage because you had to Skype your interview? My D may have to do the same thing.</p>

<p>Umm im getting kinda nervous… I got my semi-finalist email on Dec 7 and I still havent got a notification for my interview. Should I be worried?</p>
<p>It could be that they are having trouble lining up volunteers to do the interviews in your area. Since my kids made semifinalists last year, I emailed the person who was in charge of interviews to see what was going on and that is what she told me. My son doesn’t have his interview scheduled yet, either, but the tentative date is the first Saturday in February. Hope you get notified soon but don’t worry.</p>
<p>@Sbranch13: I also got my semi-finalist email on Dec 7 and I have still not been contacted for an interview. I’ve been getting a little nervous but the email said that you should call them if you haven’t been contacted by Jan 10… so there’s still one more week!</p>
