NU and Legacy Students

Hi there! So, my dream is to get into Northwestern University.
I have a Very low GPA (about a 3.35UW/3.5W)
and test scores which are laughable (Act 26 across the board)
I have Done Policy debate and acting for my entire high school career.
Took 2 leadership positions, both tech related.
First is Tech management for my debate team.
2nd, is essentially computer support technician.
took 2 AP classes AP Comp. science and German got 4 on the exam.
took a good amount of honors classes
Had a job for 2 years.
But the thing is; My mother not only went to NU for her Doctorate, she also works there.
I am also applying for early decision.
with that in mind, what do you think my chances are of getting in?
I am a junior right now so any feedback would be wonderful.
and any alternate colleges that have good computer science programs would be good to hear.

Thanks!

Maybe your mom should speak to admissions to see if they have any advice for you. NU is not going to be happy with those grades or scores. They may question whether you can handle the challenge of a rigorous curriculum. Also check to see if a PhD graduate will make you a legacy. In some schools only undergraduate counts.

Okay, I thought the same thing. You go to northwestern because you can handle the workload. So what would be the point in I get in and the curriculum is too tough. That’s pretty logical. Thank you.

NU is a very tough school, and from the looks of things, even if you DO get in, you might not have the best of time there because of the tough curriculum. However, you look promising in APs, so maybe your ACT is not as high as it could be. A 26 simply doesn’t cut it in today’s world
