Does anyone know what the average stats are for this program ? Can you apply directly to it . My son is a junior , and it sounds like NU is his first choice . But I don’t believe he’ll have the stats for regular admission, so I was wondering about the program . Thanks !
My son got in and went abroad last term. He got in with a 32 ACT, 3.7uw, 4.3 W GPA. He took 2 AP classes, and all honors. His friend also got in with similar stats except 31 ACT, but higher GPA.
I would say 31-33 ACT is about the average for kids getting into NU In. You can select it as an option when you apply.
None of the kids with less than a 31 got in, and some kids with higher stats got rejected. It also has to do with what major you want. I think engineering and CS are very hard to get into no matter what. My son got in to the school of business and his friend was undecided or maybe match.
My son enjoyed his term abroad.
Good luck.
While originally intended for applicants whose stats didn’t quite make it for Fall Boston admission the program has proven to be very popular. They offer NU In Spring for those who start in Boston in the Fall. Those locations are in England and Greece.
I’m replying to the RightCoaster comment…they DO accept kids that have ACT scores lower than 31, my son was admitted with a 27 ACT score, yes! It is a very competitive school but they do look at the overall application!!!
He had a great essay, played 3 varsity sports in high school, many awards, lots of leadership/community service… if your son wants to go to NU have him work hard junior/senior year, my son had the highest GPA 1st semester senior year. He was on NHS too but overall he was 3.7 so you DON"T have to be a 4.0, they really do want well rounded kids so GO FOR IT and APPLY and GOOD LUCK! my son loves it. he was a NUin student went to Melbourne, Australia, he is loving Boston campus now and thriving, a rugby player and pledging a frat. Go Huskies!!
