<p>What do you know about the nursing school at Pitt? How does it rank nationally? what is student life like at Pitt for nurses? any info would be helpful- thanks</p>

<p>I know UPMC offers some great practical, cutting edge experience. I don't know any recent nursing students, but the nursing school used to be awesome. One friend of mine who got her RN from Pitt ended up working on Dr. Thomas Starzl's transplant team, and one worked in Children's Hospital neonatal intensive care. I think that you likely get excellent training at Pitt. </p>

<p>In the Gourman Report, Pitt was rated #6 in nursing, behind NYU, UMich, Penn, Washington and Northwestern, with 4.83 out of 5.0 points.</p>

<p>I know a freshman nursing student and will ask her about her experiences the next time I see her.</p>

<p>That Washington I mentioned was Washington University in Seattle. If 'bc' is Boston College and 'gw' is George Washington, neither one of those is listed as a top undergrad program; however, if you get your RN licensure, I'm not sure it really matters where you went to school. That's the way it is in pharmacy. Once you pass your licensure exam and get your RPh, nobody cares where you went to school. If you are registered, you are assumed to have the necessary skills.</p>

<p>PS - It may pay to go to school where you intend to live and work. It seems that we often end up hiring students that we knew from rotations or internships.</p>
