Nursing chances/did I blow it

Hi. I’m a OOS HS junior about to finish up this school year, then I’ll be applying in the summer. My grades are pretty good right now and I think I’ll only get one B this semester in AP biology.
I really want to get into the nursing school and I’ve been working really hard. I’ve been taking challenging classes and all the recommended ones for nursing, but first semester was really hard for me and I got my first C ever in AP english (but i have an A in it now), and a B in chemistry so I’ve managed to convince myself that it means the end because I know Pitt nursing is very competitive. I still have a 3.6 uw so my bad grades didn’t bring my overall gpa too far down. I got 1150 on my first SAT and I’ve been studying a lot and I’m retaking them on Saturday, I’m going to become a certified nursing assistant next year, I’m getting strong recommendation letters, and my parents went to Pitt. I think I was a strong applicant before my not so great grades last semester, I just hope I didn’t really ruin this for myself and that they’ll see how much I’ve improved and redeemed myself from last semester.
So I guess what I’m asking is if I’ll still be okay for possible admission? Did I ruin my chances by getting bad grades one semester? I just really need some hope right now haha.

You’ll be fine. If you show that you made the grade go up from one semester to the next, then that’s good. I’m also taking a CNA course (took my exam yesterday!) and took nursing classes at my school and had a B when I applied. I got accepted (32 ACT). So keep your grades up and work hard on the ACT/SAT and you should be fine. GOOD LUCK!

@ijustneedhelp That gives me a lot of hope and less anxiety! Thanks for the response!
Your ACT score is awesome! What was your GPA if you don’t mind me asking?
Congrats on taking the CNA exam, I’m sure you did great!

@TayAbs21 You might want to try taking the ACT to see if that is a better test for you. Try to keep your GPA up. The average GPA and scores of admitted nursing students should be somewhere on the Pitt website.
