NYU Class of 2022 waitlist

Same hope here as well. However, there’s probably a reason why they did that. They either got burned last year with a better yield percentage or they are expecting a better yield percentage this year.

I’m working on my waitlist form right now, trying to make it perfect best luck I hope you all get in!

For those unsure what to do with waitlists: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/2068808-waitlist-what-is-it.html#latest

Do you express interest in all the campuses or you pick one out of the three?

@Mmrosa You have to pick one on the waitlist form

Just finished my waitlist form for CAS. Idk at first I was sad knowing there were probably around 15,750 people waitlisted and 15,722 admitted, but it kinda cheered me up when (based off subtracting the 75,000 applicants and 15,722 of people admitted equals 59,278 and then subtracting us waitlisted people from the 59,278) that an estimated amount of 43,528 people weren’t admitted (if I did that right lol). I feel horrible for those people who were denied, considering how even being waitlisted felt, but then again, it’s comforting to know that we are apart of the estimated 15,750 people who were given a second chance. So don’t give your hopes up! All of us really do have a chance! Good luck and I really do pray you all get in

I emailed one of the admissions people and she said that if you pick more than one major, you’ll be taken off the waitlist and be put into one of the specific programs so you won’t be able to choose if you pick more than one. Just letting everyone know so make sure the majors you chose are ones you actually like!

@allycat231 Wait so what if I choose mcc at steinhardt, lsp program, and gallatin at one time? Will I be taken off from the mcc major list, and only be considered for lsp? Thank you!!

@allycat231 what do u mean by one of the specific programs???

For those of you finished writing for waitlist form, how many words did you write? I have 440 and I think I have too much…

If NYU is releasing the waitlist decisions in May, does this mean that they won’t look at any additional grades? Will they just base their decisions off of continued interest and recent accomplishments then?

@Shar2000 My GC already sent my first semester grades and third marking period grades won’t be available until late April, so it makes sense that they don’t expect students to have further “official” grades to report before the deadline. However, you can always have your GC send third MP grades when they are available in the event that waitlist decisions haven’t yet been determined.

So if you selected more majors on the waitlist form, that would increase your chances of getting in?

@GrusMinion Okay, thank god. My 3rd MP grades are not lookin so hot, so I’m not sending those ha
Thanks for letting me know

@taxicab777 I assume so

if I choose cas and steinhardt, should I write about both schools even tho I wrote about cas on my app??

@brownsl what a bummer that your son didn’t get to his top choice NYC. he still has pretty good choices…UCLA is really good. what’s his home state, if I may ask, and what major?

Does anyone know how many applicants stay on the waitlist/accept the waitlist offer? Like typically? I know that they put about 15,750 applicants on the waitlist this year, but was just wondering how many will actually stay on it

@MM2018 His home state is Ohio. His intended major is computer science and economics. Found out a couple of days ago that he also got into COE at Michigan. Funny in that I was very confident he would get into NYU.

@Shar2000 I think no one knows that now, and apparently the stats from last year are not helpful if we look at the acceptance rate last year and this year :frowning: Anyway hope NYU can release the stats this year after May.1st. So worried!
