********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

I’m applying to Tisch film & tv and I’m just wondering if all Tisch applicants have to be interviewed or not. I have yet to receive any interview invites so far and I’m a little worried. Two days ago I got an email from one of the admissions people asking me to send in additional documents, which I just did last night. (FYI It wasn’t my fault not sending them in the first place) So is that why they haven’t contacted me about the interview yet??

FYI My stats are:
GPA: 3.95/4.0 unweighted

School doesn’t rank
SAT 2170 (CR750 M730 W690)
APs: AP Studio Art 2D (5), AP Calc AB (5), AP Lang (3), AP Chem (4), AP Psych, AP Stats
Asian female, CA, large competitive public school, class size = 800
Pretty much all my ECs are art-related. Artistic submission and essays are subjective so all I can say is that they manifest the best of my ability.

@horselover7…hey, gonna jump in on the financial aid change therory …not sure if i am imagining this or not, but i did notice a change today, and it was a weird one. under the financial aid summary section, if you go into it, it says financial aid, click year to view, award access not available as it always did. up at the top right and also down below, is a little blue box that says ‘account inquiry’ with up/down arrows that are really tiny to its right and then a double arrow in a blue circle to the far right outside the box. in the past when i’ve clicked it, nothing happened. now i get: a new page that says…

Account Summary
What I Owe
You have no outstanding charges at this time.
Financial Aid

do you get that?? not sure if it means anything. keeping fingers crossed. anyone else here wanna weigh in and see what theirs says now? we should all start keeping track and see if there is anything to the ‘fa change’ theory…i’ve heard they ‘fixed’ the problem, but they said that last year…perhaps we can do our own test. i do know for sure of one person who sadly had the ‘change’ and it went from award access not available to adding int the 2016 last year, but she didn’t get in unfortunately. that was the only one i heard of on cc, the rest were positively correlated. btw…hoping for stern here. nice to meet you all and good luck to all.

@skycolor…can you elaborate on extracurrics, etc? just trying to gauge where i stand. your stats are really good!

@horselover7, mine say the same.

@nero64 mine says the same when click the “two arrows” also, but I didn’t notice that button before so I don’t know if it’s a change or not.

Yeah sure I created my own non-profit that teaches people graphic design and I founded a speech and debate camp for charity that raised over 1000 dollars

@chlxbb Seems like you’re in to me!

@natiann123 Really?? Thanks!! So not getting any invite for an interview doesn’t really mean anything, right?

@chlxbb are you applying nyuny or nyush/nyuad? because interviews are extremely rare for nyuny applicants and more common for nyuad/nyush applicants, either way not getting an invite doesn’t mean much

@iywang I’m only applying to nyuny. Thanks so much for telling me that!!

@nero64 I believe I have always had the ability to click on the arrows and the get “what I owe” message. I believe the change most people were reporting last year was that when they clicked on “finical aid summary” instead of the standard “Award access not available.” (which I have and sounds like most others have at the moment) it said something along the lines of “2014 - New York City Award Access not available”.

Yeah I also think that it’s a little bit too early for admission decisions to be final. If I were the Dean of Admission at NYU, I’d tell my team to finish initial readings so we could have an idea at this year’s applicants overall status by next Tueday then have the rest of the week off and enjoy a good Thanksgiving holiday. Only after that, come back and make those hard decisions.

After next week, it’ll be uncomfortably close to December, and both admission officers and students probably will have senses that the decisions release is around the corner. So I imagine it’ll be a lot more tense then.

@deller123 do you see this in the application status on Albert? or is this somewhere else

@ferrarivettel I completely agree with this. Some people, however, were reporting FA changes around this time last year. I think especially around what will be November 23 and 24th for us. I don’t think it will mean anything if you don’t receive a change by them, but definitely if the FA change still exists we should start seeing it very soon.

@lolafinkle You see it under the finical aid portion of Albert. The “Finical Aid Summary” is where I believe most people were seeing it last year. It also seems like there were changes in the “View My To Do List” section, however, it seems that the change people described in years past is now the default.

Would be helpful to have someone like @NYUFan101 clarify exactly what the changes we should be looking are.

@deller123…i know what you mean about the TO DO LIST CHANGES…
EVERYONE…Can you all check under the To do List and tell us what yours says? I never looked at mine until recently so I do not know its original status…

Mine says this under To Do List:
To Do List
Below is a list of your current To Do items. Items in a Requested status need to be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid in a timely manner. Items in a Received status have been received by the Office of Financial Aid and are pending review.

Please note that if you do not wish to borrow the federal loans that may have been offered to you, you can decline them by going to the ‘Accept / Decline Financial Aid’ link in Albert.
