*NYU Fall 2018 Transfer Thread*

That absolutely is!

@bazzi11 Yeah that’s definitely a good sign!! Good luck! Hopefully they send out the next wave soon

Hi y’all. I applied to Stern as a sophomore transfer. But ofc put in another colleges as well: CAS, Silver etc…
College GPA:3.7
HS GPA: 2.7 (huge upward trend senior year because of family issues briefly discussed in essay)

Question is… I’m currently a visiting student at NYU (Stern nonetheless). How would y’all think that’ll effect my application?

@parkcentral Did you get Stern professors to write any of your LORs?

I haven’t asked them too. However on my midterm report they did write some nice comments. Is it too late to do so? Should I?

Hi!!! I applied for Fall 2018 Transfer to Steinhardt for Media, Culture and Communication.(GLS as backup)
I am currently an international student and a sophomore at Pace University NYC. (Male/Mixed Race/LGBT, apparently these stuff matter lol)
I have a really. really bad GPA (3.25) which is why I will def be rejected lol.
I scored 101/120 on the TOEFL which is above the minimum requirement.
I submitted great essays (at least in my opinion lol)
I also had a great recommendation from a philosophy professor who teaches both at Pace and NYU!!
I also did a lot of volunteering and UN stuff that I included on the common app.
I also submitted a Moroccan baccalaureate as a test score (15/20) and had very good high school grades. (top 5 throughout high school)
I fluently speak 3 languages, hoping that would make up for anything lol
…do I actually have a chance? lolol

Hey so I’ve been following this thread for a few weeks and I just got in to CAS for biochem as a sophomore transfer last night so here are my stats–

Background:
-Asian
-Female
-Pretty selective private university outside US (Econ major)

Stats:
-GPA: 3.61/4.0 unweighted (highest in the batch is 3.85)
-ACT: 33
-2 letters of recommendation (1 academic, 1 from an internship advisor)
-High school: doesn’t translate into a GPA but pretty sure it would be around a 3.9-4.0

EC’s:
-Interned at a pretty big research lab/institute over the summer
-Theatre club
-Editor of college paper
-Project manager for a friend’s NGO
-Journalist for this NGO-associated website thing
-Press member at MUN’s
-Guitar and stuff

My essays were quite direct but fairly strong

I’m really worried because my GPA is definitely dropping this semester and they say it’s a contingent acceptance. How high are the chances that they rescind an application? It would be mostly B’s as opposed to my last semester of mostly A’s. Also submitted financial aid applications late so that didn’t work. Would I be allowed to apply again and actually get aid as a junior/senior?

My application status no longer says anything about transfers on Albert, just the note about freshmen applications. It got fully checked off yesterday.

Hey everyone! All of my materials are checked off on Albert and have been for a couple weeks, however I have not received an admission decision. I sent an email to an admissions representative, and he responded “you can expect an update sooner than May, as admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis.” Will the decision and financial aid award be made available at the same time? I am also considering Syracuse (accepted in March; deadline to accept - 5/1/18), so I’m hoping to hear back from NYU prior to making a decision at other potential schools.

For those who have the academic year 2018-2019 housing app available… does it say non-renewable undergraduate?

I got accepted into Gallatin yesterday, but I have not received my financial aid decision yet. Does anyone have any idea when they typically send that out?

@bazzi11 I think you should be good in terms of the high school transcript not being checked off. Mine still isn’t checked off and I got accepted yesterday. I think they’re just slow about updating the online checklist. Good luck!

@angeleno13 I also was accepted and have yet to receive the financial aid decision. Did calling result in a decision or are you still waiting to hear back?

@kristinm4 what are your stats?

I got my financial aid package last week but it was bad so still unable to afford it. Guess that opens a spot in CAS though good luck you guys!

@derrickh2 could you PM me the contact info of the admissions contact? i’d like to email a person and see what they say about me hearing back lol

Still waiting for my transcripts to check, they were submitted late feb.

@derrickh2 I’m currently trying to transfer out of Syracuse to NYU or somewhere else, but still waiting to hear back. Lmk if you have any questions!

If you guys are trying to reach someone from the admissions office and you’re not having luck with the number provided, you might try looking for the contact information your specific admissions counselor, you may want to check this page and do a Ctrl+F of your specific locale:

https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/questions/admissions-counselors.html
and then pull up their info by searching their name on the directory here:
https://www.nyu.edu/search.directory.html

I was fortunate enough to have been assigned a counselor who sought me out back in March and he had it all sorted out for me then.

what time EST have people been receiving their decisions?
