@californian0328 i don’t think anyone has heard back from stern
@g4gtown what are your major and stats?
@aksbeast last week of February
@vhugo_lopes The major at my current institution is IR. For NYU, I applied for Politics.
In terms of stats, SAT was not that special – 700 on Reading/Writing and 620 on Math.
HS GPA: 3.9.
College GPA: 3.5 my fall semester and around a 3.8/3.9 for this semester.
HS ECs: Founder and president of Model UN chapter, Vice president of National Honors Society, received a scholarship from the State Department to study Arabic in the Middle East.
College ECs: Freshman representative of the second largest student organization on campus and currently interning at a think-tank and foreign affairs committee.
I think NYU admissions is very holistic. Best of luck!
@g4gtown I was also accepted April 17th! Also submitted a few days before the deadline but they didn’t receive some things until after the deadline. @skyleigh I didn’t have changes beforehand.
for people who might ask here are my stats and major:
current institution major: undeclared (but enough classes towards a double english and theatre major)
major at NYU: Dramatic Literature in CAS
ACT score: 33
HS GPA: my high school didn’t assign GPAs but I had an A- average
College GPA: 3.65 last semester and probably a 3.5 this semester
HS extra curriculars: co-head of the a feminist discussion club, co-head of a race relations coalition, captain of a varsity sports team, captain of year round club sports team
College extra curriculars: Division I sports team (literally that’s all I have time for)
I’m not really that strong of a candidate on paper, so for anyone wondering I currently attend a top ten ranked liberal arts college, which I think helped a lot in admissions.
Good luck to everyone who hasn’t heard back yet, and I hope to see you next year!
Has anyone heard back from Rory Meyers College of Nursing?
People who applied to Stern- Did you all complete all the course requirement for Stern or they are flexible with it?
@futurelbanker/hfmanager what are some of the course requirements? or is there a possible list I could see
@SammyDKMV yea sure it’s on their additional program page for transfer applicants:
If you wish to transfer into the sophomore year at Stern, you should have completed:
1 semester of Calculus I or higher (NYU’s MATH-UA 121 or higher or equivalent)
1-2 semesters of writing/composition
If you wish to transfer into the junior year at Stern, you should have completed:
1 semester of Calculus I or higher (NYU’s MATH-UA 121 or higher or equivalent)
1-2 semesters of writing/composition
1 semester of introductory-level microeconomics (NYU’s ECON-UA 2 Introduction to Microeconomics or equivalent)
1 semester of statistics and regression (NYU’s STAT-UB 103 Statistics for Business Control and Regression/Forecasting Models or equivalent)
1 semester of financial accounting (NYU’S ACCT-UB 1 Principles of Financial Accounting or equivalent)
Note: Completing the above prerequisites at your current institution does not guarantee transfer of credit. We will not transfer any AP credit your current school may have awarded you in AB Calculus, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Statistics, or English Language. If admitted, do not plan on taking additional coursework the summer before you enter Stern. In addition:
If you can’t complete all the required coursework by the time you apply, please provide an explanation for why in the “additional information” section on the Common Application.
The calculus course must be the equivalent of calculus I or higher as offered to math majors. Calculus courses for non-math majors typically do not satisfy the calculus requirement . You may also use a score of 4 or 5 on AP BC Calculus, a 6 or 7 on a higher-level IB Math, or an A or B in GCE A-level math to satisfy the math requirement.
Students transferring into the junior year should have completed at least an introductory microeconomics course (blended, one-semester microeconomics-macroeconomics courses are not sufficient). If you take an introductory microeconomics course but are unable to take/complete an intermediate-level microeconomics course at your current institution, you’ll be required to take an upper-level economics course at NYU after you transfer.
Acceptance of your statistics credit would depend on passing a Stern proficiency exam after admission.
Additional Suggested Coursework for Transfers
You may have greater flexibility with course selection after admission if you have already taken the following courses:
Sophomores:
1 natural science course (or an AP score of 4 or 5 in a science)
1 additional semester of writing/composition
1 statistics course (NYU’s STAT-UB 3 or an equivalent multiple regression course highly recommended)
1 financial accounting course (NYU’s ACCT-UB 1 Principles of Financial Accounting or equivalent)
Juniors:
1 intermediate-level microeconomics course
1 natural science course (or an AP score of 4 or 5 in a science)
1 additional writing/composition course or an Introductory philosophy or “great books” course (NYU’s CORE-UA 400-499 Texts & Ideas or equivalent)
1 history/arts course focusing on a specific culture or region (NYU’s CORE-UA 500-599 Cultures & Contexts or equivalent)
Introductory business courses such as management Management (NYU’s MGMT-UB 1 Management & Organizations or equivalent), Operations (NYU’s OPMG-UB 1 Operations Management or equivalent), or Marketing (NYU’s MKTG-UB 1 Intro to Marketing or equivalent)
@SammyDKMV go to this website and select Stern. https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/how-to-apply/transfer-applicants/additional-program-requirements.html
@futurelbanker/hfmanager @yankeebanger Thx! This looks familiar, i’m sure i’ve come across it once or twice beforehand which is good because I was able to adjust my classes in my current university accordingly. The best thing about being a sophomore transfer is that not much is expected, course load wise for transfer. Fordham even gave me a heads up about my admission because I hadn’t taken a few classes like macro and micro econ, unfortunately I truly had no space whatsoever to have taken both, lol, but ultimately I got in, which I was really happy about
I received my TAP reward for NYU does this mean I was accepted? I haven’t seen any changes to my Albert, very excited to hear back wether accepted or not I’m happy to be here!
@jimjoshorts101 what’s that? Sounds exciting
@SammyDKMV It’s a supplement to FAFSA for NY residents. When applying for TAP they choose your first choice on your FAFSA form.
@jimjoshorts101 I am from NJ and my TAG rewards show Princeton’s award for the upcoming year but that definitely does not mean I got into Princeton they just list all the schools and the eligible awards for those schools.
Hi all. So I applied on April 1st and on April 4th an admissions officer emailed me to inform me they were missing my high school transcript, midterm report, and college report. She told me to send them in asap because they were reviewing my application. I told her it would take a week to get my high school transcript sent in because I no longer lived in the state where I graduated and they hadn’t moved to an online way of sending a transcript and it had to be sent by mail. She then asked me to send my unofficial transcript as a placeholder. I got everything in.
Since then I haven’t heard anything back and also no changes to my Albert, it still says need high school transcript. I would like to think that something in my application sparked their interest. If I were an admissions officer I would just assume the student didn’t have their stuff together and should have paid more attention to the paperwork needed, she was really patient with me. idk maybe its just wishful thinking…
STATS
Graduated High Shcool with a 1.0
College GPA 3.6
President of Multicultural club
Reporter and Office Manager of the campus Newspaper
Work as Manager for a store
I speak 4 languages
First Generation College student
@nyanyny Hi I had the same issue as you. I just emailed my admission officer and he told me they’ve received everything so I would be fine. I think those who update the portal might not be the same person who review you application. I know it sounds weird but judging from my situation that’s the case.
And I also emailed the office, they replied me after a week and updated my portal. Don’t be too worried.
Thanks for the reply. Good to know I’m not the only one. Good luck to you! Maybe I’ll see you next fall!
I’ve applied for Gallatin, but I haven’t heard back yet.
Has anyone heard back from Gallatin :)? Any other international students out here?
International student applying for Gallatin as well!
no news so far except an email from an admissions counselor asking for my midterm report… the wait is agonizing
