Got into NYU CAS for Neural Science this morning! College GPA was a 3.5 with a strong essay and extracurriculars. I was waitlisted last year so that may have played a huge part in my acceptance. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! Stay strong whatever the outcome!

Just got into Tisch for Dramatic Writing. I’ve been following these threads for a few years and I never see many stats transfers to that department, so here’s a breakdown of mine.
Applied for DW at Tisch, CAS as backup.

Biracial background (white/hispanic)

3.53 GPA at the time of applying, think it’s closer to 3.6 now (As in all classes for this semester)
25 ACT (didn’t even need to send these in but I figured what the hell)
Pretty eclectic range of ECs. Worked as a student ambassador for my community college, work part-time at a bookstore, did the Disney College Program, Phi Theta Kappa and Psi Beta member. The only one I had relevant to my major was volunteer work I did at a local film/screenwriting convention.
Pretty good letters of recommendation from a local author friend and my student ambassador supervisor, and a write-up from my adviser that I turned in just to be safe along with my midterm report.
Essays that focused on my passion for the importance of children’s entertainment and how it could be used to bridge generational gaps and difficult issues along with the usual “why NYU” stuff.
I only got the Financial Aid change, and that was on Sunday.
This was my second time applying. Looking at it now, it’s probably my ECs, grades and better essays compared to the ones I turned in before that got me in because before I went in with a 3.4 and almost nothing else.
