FYI- so on another thread it seems like many people’s FA changed today, to what I posted as mine earlier. (Mine changed 2 weeks ago) Many no longer have the “no FA available” but very few- if any- have recently changed with the 2014 added. So the new idea is that either 1) NYU has figured it out and stopped adding the 2014 as they had been doing, or 2) All the decisions are made and this message now comes up for those not accepted. So, the question is- does anyone have a change today that added the 2014? or does anyone still have “no FA found?”

Also, I called NYU today to check on the date- they are sticking by the April 1 date (if it is earlier, they are not letting on) and they said an email will be sent, and it won’t just be something you can check on albert without the email.

"Each year, those of us on the admission committee are thoroughly entertained by posts we read online from students (and oddly enough, parents) who believe they have located evidence of their admission decision somewhere online. They are wasting oh so much time that could be better spent. Admission decisions simply are not available anywhere on our website. Period. "

@cneogy My says the same but my stats are far below yours (ACT 25 SAT 1880 GPA 4.0 unweighted). Is your FAFSA 100% complete? I recently got a message requesting some more forms because my parents’ accountants have yet to finish up some stuff with their business. I’m still hoping this is why I don’t see the 2014 message. I do not expect to be admitted though.

Did anyone approve Shawn Abbott’s blog entry? What an awful reflection on the admission’s committee. How insulting to say that they are entertained by a student’s anxiety? Yes, there have been a lot of assumptions made with the FA changes, but I do find it interesting that he does not specifically address the changes. The Albert program does not have a mind of its own and change for no reason. If there is no “tell” in the system for admissions, then just explain the reasoning for the FA change. It would alleviate a lot of chatter and anxiety.

@byahnoob: Idk but i have a bad feeling i’m going to be THAT kid who only gets into his safeties (2) altho he applied to 10 colleges :-/ (already rejected from 3 high reaches, waitlisted from a match and a low reach).

@GGekko: well don’t forget your gpa is UW while my 4.0 is W and GPA matters far more than ACT/SAT.

@Nifmom: I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the blogpost – Abbott’s saying that they’re amused by people making wild guesses and assumptions and divinations based on not very much evidence. They specifically state that they recognize it’s a stressful time.

Yeah, I’m sure he didn’t mean to be hurtful, but again, just providing a reasoning for the Albert changes would have really put this issue to bed.

@cneogy I have been accepted to my two safety schools and rejected from two of my reach/match schools. I guess we’re in the same boat haha. Good luck to everyone!

@nifmom, as much as i would love an explanation of the Albert changes, I don’t think they owe us any explanation at all. My kid is as anxious as the next, but we must all be patient. Clearly they have a process that they go through and they don’t need to keep us informed of how and why they make or don’t make changes to the system.
To you all, if you get in NYU…fantastic, but if you don’t, you will all do very well wherever you land. I have never come across so many super smart kids than on cc.
Best of luck to each of you!!

@proudmomx2 I completely agree that we are not owed an explanation. I never meant to imply that. I am just rooting for everyone and hope good news will come their way. Fingers crossed for all NYU hopefuls!
