NYU (NY) RD 2017 Discussion

I have met Shawn and he is a stand up guy. Remember, only a small percentage of NYU applicants are members of CC. By this time Friday, we will hear. Stop speculating and relax. No matter where your son or daughter goes to school, they will do well.

Personally I stopped checking because I don’t want to get my hopes up or disappoint myself before its necessary.

OMG…it finally changed!! I was giving up hope. But it says “Award access not available”. Nothing about 2014.

@Insanemom - sorry to give you bad news… everyones changed;…

NYU definitely caught on because they wouldn’t have mentioned college confidential at all if they hadn’t caught on. It doesn’t make sense that everyone’s FA changed to something that no one has ever seen before. If your FA didn’t change before Shawn Abbott posted his blog, I don’t really think it means anything…sorry

NYU finally found out about this little “glitch” in Albert and changed everyone’s to damage control, which is expected.

MY question is was there anybody from the past who was accepted without this FA change??

I thought the nyu blog post was funny. We are all extremely crazy for posting on this site so much. I think it’s funny that the parents are posting so much too. We are all a little too anxious, myself included! 3 more days y’all, we can do it!

drac313, some people still have ‘no finaid info found’ though, so the change has to mean something

@najmamohamud like who? some people as in people on cc?
all my friend’s FA changed to access award not available w/o the 2014, but maybe youre right it might mean something!!!

i dont even care if it doesnt mean we’ve been accepted.
AT LEAST waitlisted, or a different program/major than our intended one…

Yeah it was only a matter of time before NYU caught up. Today the NYU track coach called me and said that I got in, which is great since NYU was my highest reach and dream school. Unfortunately, getting in is not enough for me considering my decision rests upon financial aid, and we all know NYUs reputation for that. Would’ve preferred it if i didn’t find out, lol. Good luck to everyone!

Do the financial aid packages come out the same day as admission decisions

Even though the NYU blog mentioned that the changes don’t mean anything, there is still the question as to why most people received the new change without the 2014. I believe I’m one of the few people who got the original change today (with the 2014) with the little box and all. The one without the 2014 has no box or anything, like it’s just a statement. I’m not sure, but it has to be some sort of difference. Good luck to everyone regardless.

Hmph. I’m not entirely sure I want to go to a school who messes up big time and then months later figures out through its applicants and tries to blame it on them.

I really like Clive Davis and based on what everyone is saying it’s possible I got in / waitlisted, but it’s not turning out the way I’d hoped it would. I guess it was naive of me to pick a dream school anyhow.

Small question, what is one basing the guess off that they caught up with the glitch? Is it because of the change of everyone’s now to “Award Access Not Available” and those who had the previous change of “2014 Award Access Not Available” ?

In retrospect I was part of EDII that got burned from this glitch and we pretty much knew a week before who had been accepted/rejected. So it is in fact a glitch and not a theory. At first we were all so ****ed and upset that such a “reputable” school had an enormity of a glitch. But looking back, it honestly eased the blow of getting the rejection letters later on since we had a week to prepare for it.

But I honestly don’t know why they keep denying it like we’re all stark raving lunatics. Clearly it’s there and this new attempt to change those who previously had “No Financial Aid Info Found” to “Award Access Not Available” hints at some acknowledgement. But nothing is ever certain with admissions…until you get that email.

It’s just… there’s so many holes in that message. They use a scapegoat (us) without explaining what the problem was (intentional obscurity) or mentioning any of the hypotheses we had (no rebuttal). What a weak argument – “It was the crazy lunatics! It was all them! Madness!” It came off as immature and purposefully mean.

@fankini - your status change to 2014 access not available today?

You don’t. Seriously. The bureaucracy is one of the primary reasons several kids I know have transferred out, or are currently trying to.

sally305 - Yeah… I’m seriously reconsidering. There’s a lot of scandal and greed surrounding NYU and I don’t really want to be a part of it. I love New York City and it’s great for music, which I’d chase after, but… I got into schools in LA and I think I’d pick those over NYU now.
