sorry if this is a dumb question but do they need the college report before sending me my decision? or can I submit it afterwards?
@qvqwsp Hey! I don’t think my decision will come out so early. I applied to Steinhardt. Based on the previous years’ trend, I guess I might receive mine on the first two weeks of May.
@nk2220 It’s generally accepted that Tandon tends to accept more applicants relative to CAS. However, I’ve actually never heard of anybody getting into their second choice. Then again I only know a few NYU students and other applicants so take what I said with a massive grain of salt.
Just got all my materials checked off, including my Tisch artistic portfolio. It makes me happy but nervous knowing that they can finally starting reviewing my application
@jw8001 , when you say “I’ve actually never heard of anybody getting into their second choice”, are you specifically talking about transfer students?
@SJ2727 I based it off of what I’ve heard from regular applicants, many of my friends who were rejected put a second option and they were still rejected. I’m assuming it wouldn’t be too different for transfer applicants. As well as from my friends already at NYU, none of them got into their second options, only their first.
@abciiiiiiiiiii Good luck to us Steinhardt people. Hopefully we will be getting our results before the summer break starts so that we can have a happy summer break.
@jw8001 , if you read the ED and RD thread here, a number of people, including my daughter, were accepted to their second choice in the freshman application round. Just because your friends put in a second option and were rejected, does not mean the second choice wasn’t considered. Remember NYU is down to a 16% admit rate in the normal application cycle now, so more than 4 out of every 5 applicants will be rejected… it simply is the most likely outcome, whether or not you get considered for a second choice.
It does seem from the ED and RD threads that Stern and Steinhardt applicants were more likely to be waitlisted than put in their second choice, which I assume is at least partly due to the fact that it must be quite difficult to write a coherent “why NYU” essay that will cover both one of those schools and an alternative equally, whereas for stem subjects in CAS /Tandon, or for CAS /LS applicants in social sciences or humanities, it would be much easier to see the student fitting either.
Sorry for your friends, and hopefully you will have better luck in the transfer cycle.
I wish NYU would just set a day that transfers get their decisions and release all at once. The waiting game in torture!
@SJ2727 Thanks for the info!
@Clementine7624 right?! not knowing what day your life may change is so stressful! haha
I went to my community college registrar’s office and they said they will sent out my college report on Monday ? I hope it doesn’t take too long for NYU to receive it (I live in New York, so I’m hoping it’s a matter of days) It’s the only document that I have missing.
@Clementine7624 @thispersonsthat I guess they wanna make you want it more by waiting
@Egr95 Are they sending it thru email?
Coz NYU would process it much quicker thru email from my experience
No they’re mailing it @TrinityT
I applied to Gallatin as an external transfer from Northeastern March 1st and submitted my final materials on March 25th (had problems getting my high school transcript). I still haven’t heard anything back, am I the only one? People who heard back already, was it in the mail and no notifications by email? Feel like a headless chicken at this point, I don’t know where I’m going to live next year. Good luck to all of you, trust me I know how your feeling. The waiting is agonizing.
@purple229 my daughter applied to Gallatin as a transfer as well. She got an e-mail this past weekend asking for her midterm grade report which she sent to the requestor on Wed. Since then - nothing.
@purple229 I applied to Steinhardt on Feb 19 and get everything submitted on March 12. Still haven’t heard back yet.
Waiting for next week for some good news
for those of you who got accepted, mind sharing financial aid awards? totally good if you wanna keep it confidential
do you know if that needs to be submitted before they announce a decision?
