NYU Transfer Fall 2019

@nsomekh Where in your profile do you see your student email?

@nsomekh If I look into registering for courses, I can see a student email. But I think this is autogenerated when you apply to the school so they can have you in their system. Am I mistaken?

@McDrew123 I also have the student email!

@McDrew123 I just realized that you’re on the BU’s Fall 2019 Transfer thread as well! I thought that handle looked familiar lol

Is there a 2019 Transfer facebook page?

@ashm473 I couldn’t find a group for transfer students on fb but I joined the class of 2021 group.

@ApocaIypse Haha that is me! Sadly rejected from BU, but still holding out hope for NYU!

Hey guys. I was accepted to NYU Tandon last year but it was just too expensive for me. I’m applying as a transfer to Tandon from a liberal arts college in Nyc that gave me practically a full ride. How do you guys think nyu will interpret me rejecting them the previous year? Will they even acknowledge that I was accepted last year? Or do they just scrap applicants’ information that did not choose them? Do you think they’ll sympathize with my previous decision (I mentioned it a bit in the ‘Why NYU?’ question… Sorry, thats alot to take in just nervous

What’s up guys! New to the forum here! Applied into the business major with a 3.33(I know my GPA is borderline horrible). Got rejected from BU and Michigan, still waiting on NYU just like most of you! I looked at the previous convo and found that a few of you guys had a “housing deposit” or “Student email” thing on their application status page. Since I don’t have that maybe that means you guys have a bit more hope then I do? My application status page only consists of the checklist and some other forms, nothing fancy. I guess my question is when should I give up waiting for NYU and just go to MSU(Already excepted)? From the looks of it, I’m thinking May 15? or please let me know if you could ditch your first school after you get into another? Thanks!

@Jeff2019 heyy, you can see the page with your transfer credit and housing deposit info if you sign in through Albert. things get fancier if you login to NYU home

my albert only shows financial aid received for both docs in my financial aid to do list. nothing on my transfer credits or financial aid page. I have a low chance??

@caesaf, is NYU affordable now when it wasn’t before?

The first time I applied I missed the CSS profile deadline because it processed late. So apparently I wasn’t considered for NYU scholarships. I have an expanded pell grant and tap grant now as well. It’s not a lot but if it comes down to it I guess I’ll take out loans.

@Jeff2019 i got denied umich and into msu as well! what kind of rejection letter did you get? did it tell you to continue building upon a strong academic performance and to apply for the next available term?

@ohhunty heyyy, thank you for that tip! I signed in to Albert however it did not boost my hopes up haha. Yes, there is a transfer credit page but it was empty(Showing no document available) :(. Yes, there was a housing deposit button but the link said no activity on this account. So am I still less than everyone else?

@kmalin Hi! Here’s what they said on my rejection letter:"
The transfer admission decision involves many factors including the rigor of your college courses and the grades achieved in those courses. Depending on the number of transferable college credits, we also consider your high school achievement including academic grade point average and your ACT or SAT scores. Regretfully, we feel that the University of Michigan is not an appropriate match for your unique credentials and academic achievements."

Thank you so much for sharing your rejection reason so I could see what other people are getting! If anyone else got rejected from umich aswell, I would love to see their rejection reasoning! Low key always feels like it’s always genetic. I guess maybe see you in MSU?

@Jeff2019 Most people that noticed a change in their Albert noticed it around the day before their acceptance and some noticed on the decision day itself. There were also people that got accepted and didn’t notice any change to their Albert. There were also some incidents I think where people noticed some changes but still got rejected. NYU also posted on their blog (I think) trying to dispel this myth.

Basically, don’t fret! People get accepted even without the Albert changes. We’ll know soon enough on Thursday (or next Thursday if you don’t hear back).

@caesaf

I know your situation as I am pretty similar to yours. I would say that you should not worry, as since you got accepted last time and have been doing well your freshman year, then you meet the qualifications for acceptance. The schools I applied to again this year I all got accepted to. They don’t have a good reason to not accept you quite frankly.

@caesaf oddly enough that’s my situation rn: i don’t know if i’m in or not, but i definitely missed the css application deadline, which means no scholarship for sure. if you don’t mind me asking, did you try to call them to discuss the issue and negotiate? if so, what did they say?

@frafont When I was accepted last year I went to tandon to ask about financial aid a week later. Honestly they were so blunt about the whole FA situation that it just came off as cold and a bit rude. I tried to negotiate, but nothing came of it. They do however reconsider financial aid for extraordinary circumstances like the death of a parent or something as serious. They won’t make exceptions for late css profiles. I think if i get accepted again i’ll take the offer regardless of aid. At 56k a year thats like 168k after 3 years. I think i could manage it. idk
