Yea, I got the email today too and I made it very clear in my waitlist form that I would 100% attend NYU.
That’s why I think they are uncorrelated. My guess is they will send the rest of the emails tomorrow.
When do you guys think they will start sending the first wave of acceptances?
Hey guys, I have a lot of experience with NYU admissions / the NYU waitlist so I may be able to help some of you. I applied RD last year to Steinhardt and got off the waitlist May 11th I believe. I never got the interest letter. I got in for the spring semester, and really wanted to go but ended up sticking with the school I committed to because I didn’t want to take a year and a half off school (unfortunately NYU doesn’t offer any programs for midyears), and thought joining second semester would be very hard to adjust, especially at a school like NYU. I took a gap year this year and applied to Steinhardt again, but ED II. I thought I had a good shot because I got in last year, but was waitlisted again. I got the interest letter yesterday, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to get in. I didn’t even get an email saying that my acceptance decision was available when I was waitlisted. What I’m trying to say is you can get the interest letter and not get in, and not get the interest letter and get in. What I will say is that last year there was a common trend where a lot of midyears didn’t get the interest letter and got in for spring semester. I don’t know what it means this year, and I honestly wouldn’t overthink it. I think it’s pretty random
Also most people got in from Steindhart and Tandon. I don’t think a lot of Tisch CAS and Stern people (at least people posting on CC) if any, got in
@yellowbean I think they said early next week, probably Monday or Tuesday
@sgxfit18 Did the waitlist last year have good mobility?
@HelpBot Yes I think so. There were a few big waves of acceptances and I think I was the second or third one. But people were also accepted individually based on major / school. There were many spring admits so I would start thinking about that option now and whether or not you would consider it
I explicitly said I’d attend in the waitlist form, and I got the email
Just called the undergraduate admissions office according to them this form is sent to everyone on waitlist
i don’t understand some of us didn’t get the form…there is still hope i guess…
I got the email today. Last year this wasn’t sent to everyone…
Yes last year it wasn’t sent to everyone
Well praying, hoping for the best
Does anybody know if they’ll take people for NYU Abu Dhabi from the waitlist?
I just called admissions, and they said that for people who have not received the email yet, they’re being released on a rolling basis
Im on the waitlist in NJ for Tandon but didnt receive the email yet
What about those who got the email?
Spring admission? wow - never heard of that.
@wondering2233 see here https://www.nyu.edu/admissions/undergraduate-admissions/admitted-students/spring-admission.html The bottom line is you enter in spring, do a summer semester, and join the rest of the cohort as usual in sophomore year. It’s not available to all schools within NYU.
A number of colleges seem to be doing this as a way to help manage admissions, I know BU, NEU and American do it as well. (My daughter actually wanted to move her offer to spring admission but they only let you defer one year fall to fall or spring to spring, not fall to spring.)
No this email is different from the one last year bc last year’s actually said something about having space for that specific person in a specific school they applied to, hence only being sent out to some people
