@Chrissy123, yeah, starting at 4:00pm this afternoon.
@chakahmeat , my daughter was accepted into LSP core as an alternative to CAS. After some digging and talking to people who’ve done it, she is actually really excited about the program. However, I think it depends to a large extent what your intended major is. My impression is that it is much easier to transition into a humanities/social sciences major than a STEM major, even though some intended STEM majors put it as second choice and got it. I would suggest if possible you or (I guess should be) your student contact the department your student is targeting to see if it’s a good pathway.
@SJ2727 - one of my D’s best friends is in LSP and started Spring 2019. Her intended major is writing/english/journalism and she is really happy with her teachers and her program so far. I hope your D’s experience is the same!
@SJ2727 @coolcoolcool123 My daughter is also heading toward non-STEM so I’m thinking she will be ok. My question is how guaranteed is their direct transfer into their major if they’ve met all the requirements? Can CAS suddenly accommodate the influx of LSC juniors? Could LS students be deferred entry due to lack of space in the department? Also, if during their sophomore year they try to access CAS electives to prepare for transition, could they be denied access because priority goes to CAS students? She’s on her way to NYU today to get some answers…
hi! i dont know if this is still a point of contention but: i just called admissions about the continued interest email. she told me it is, in fact, being sent in waves and its 100% correlated with how early the initial waitlist form was submitted. so to clarify when i asked if it meant anything in terms of indicating chances of being let off the waitlist she said everyone on the waitlist has the same likelihood. so basically the email isn’t a likely letter or anything like that. while i hope this doesn’t disappoint those who did receive the email, i do hope it encourages those who havent (yet!!). this basically means everyone has the same chance
me again lol. when i called i just asked if anyone had been taken off the waitlist (as if i didnt know lol) to see what they would say. she said “a few” or “a handful” (smth along those lines) have been taken off. now this is just speculation, but maybe that means the first wave of acceptances off the waitlist was very small. just hoping to encourage people rn bc i need it too lmao!!
thanks for all of the calls @oschroder
Have any ED people gotten off the waitlist or is it just RD ?
do people think there’ll be a 4:00 wave today?
@actinghopeful20 I think our best bet would be look at last year’s forum and see what happened. I don’t have the time to right now though.
ugh i feel like my stats are so low compared to the rest of u. i had like 1280 SAT & 3.2 GPA so i guess my essays & portfolio were good ? good thing i applied to tisch instead of CAS
@scvannah we were all waitlisted for a reason! Don’t worry about numbers
Has anyone heard anything today?
@scvannah Why is that a good thing?
tisch emphasizes those stats less @invban10
Any exciting news?
@oschroder thanks, buddy! wishing everyone luck also.
I havent heard anything yet
thank you @extremelynervous! has anyone heard anything today?
Nothing. Their office hours end in 5 minutes…
