I’m sure it’s just a glitch. I would guess that they haven’t even reevaluated our applications yet because it’s not May 1st yet. @Sassygogo
It must be a glitch since they don’t even know if they’re going to be able to accept any waitlist candidates yet
Do any of you think that sending the statement of intent early rather than late will have any impact on our chances of being accepted? Because i’ve talked to quite a few people who decided late and want to know whether or not it will impact them in any way?
I’m hoping that the very detailed letter I sent to one of the admissions people (a family friend used to be his boss at NYU admissions) will help. he replied back saying he would forward it to the dean and also the person who controls admissions for steinhardt so i’m praying!!! but if not GW will be AMAZING but NYU would be even more amazing
what do you think waitlist chances are? how about chances at stern waitlist?
What do you think the waitlist chances for Tandon are ?
Hey guys, I don’t know how many of you have seen this, but the NYU Blog posted it on the 29th of April! http://admissionsblog.nyu.edu/2016/04/29/wait-list-update-1/
Oh man NYU is going to start being “need-aware”. That means I have no chance of getting in now.
what do you mean need aware @scholar861
@SP2617 According to the blog (http://admissionsblog.nyu.edu/2016/04/29/wait-list-update-1/), the admission committee is going to check to see if the people who were waitlisted can afford to pay the tuition for NYU.
“For some programs, we have exhausted NYU scholarships and we may need to be “need-aware” in making decisions about who to admit from the wait list.”
@SP2617 @scholar861 Yeah that’s another factor that we all need to consider when being on the waitlist. Not being able to afford NYU is a valid reason to not attend however if you truly will not attend because of the tuition then it is important to take your name off the waitlist. It’s just another reason why waitlist candidates are dragged till late May early June because other waitlist accepted applications (who aren’t planning on attending NYU) are still out there while students who are willing to attend are still waiting
Wait…what the F!@$?! They already let people in?! Before May 1st?! That’s bull s@&$. And they’re going to be “need aware”? So they’d literally reject someone based on whether or not they are wealthy. Cool.
@webwaffle78 wahhh?
@webwaffle78 don’t take it like if you’re under x amount of money a year then you cannot attend NYU. That’s not the case but rather they want to concentrate on students who are wiling to commit knowing that the tuition is so high. There are a handful of admitted waitlist students who in the end decline NYU because of the tuition costs while there are other waitlist students who are aware of the tuition costs and are willing to attend, consequently get notified in June (because spots are limited) when they already made other plans. Essentially- you need to ask yourself this question if you are currently a waitlist student: If you are admitted will you enroll? Will you pay the costs? If not, then notify them asap so they can give that opportunity for another student who really wants it
New to this thread! - been stalking this page for a long time. Last year, notification for some waitlisted students came out around mid May, do you guys think it will be the same for this year? Will first wave of notification come out within the next two to three weeks?
I mentioned the second week of may (11,12,13) as hotspots for waitlist stuff. And they are sent in waves by school! But who knows whether everything will be different this year
@Sassygogo Thanks! So nerve-racking it’s killing me!
It really is hard to say when they’re going to begin notifying more students…but I think we are all going to get a lot of info about the spots available in all of the different programs fairly soon. I really just want to find out how many spots (if any) are open at Stern for potential waitlist candidates though, so I hope they post an update on the blog within the next few days.
Also, has anyone gotten a confirmation e-mail yet about their submission of the waitlist form?
