I sent in a deposit to a school I got into from Regular decision. Last week I was notified from one of my wait list schools that I got off the wait list and I would definitely go there over the one I already committed to. If I send in a deposit to this new waiting school does that mean I have to go there 100%? Because at this point it’s either this new wait list school or NYU ans NYU is the school I would go to if I get in however I still need to reserve my spot in the other wait list. Other than losing the deposit money, is there any sort of legal commitment made when sending in a deposit?
@terr24lr probably no legal commitment but make sure you tell each school if you are backing out. I think it becomes messy if you have already accepted the financial aid offer…but you need to call then for sure
So I emailed the admission office, and they said they hope to have communications out by the end of May. Oh well, guess we have to wait for another 2.5 weeks.
End of May. Awesome. 8-|
@Sassygogo I haven’t heard anything from NYU either. But I did place a deposit on another school, and accepted the financial aid packet. But what do you mean it gets messy? Bc we haven’t signed any legal papers to accept the loans, so how would that affect?
Still waiting to hear from Tisch/dance, too…
Still waiting to hear from Tisch Film/TV
Got an email from NYU asking me to call them??? They said it would be “very helpful in moving forward with our process”. What does this mean?? (Int student btw)
@paperblitz WOAH I think that’s a good sign that they are interested in you and want to take you off the waitlist! Which school did you apply to btw?
My son applied to NYU Shack Real Estate. This is his first choice. Has anyone heard from this program at NYU.
Tisch for Sports Management
@scholar861 Really? Wow haha i’ve basically written NYU off already, just waiting for a rejection so i can accept my other offers. I applied to tisch institute of business, media and sports management
@CantaW hey me too! Best of luck to you
@bklnylee Ok you should be fine. It’s only if you signed legal papers about loans with banks and basically approved that you will pay back your debt to the college. Because then you guys are in a contract that could be very hard to get out of just because there may be so many people involved/inefficiency of customer service etc. My school said that financial aid and loan setting up can be done before the college school year starts, so I wouldn’t jump to accepting loans if you have any waitlist schools you really want to get into.
hey guys just joining this! I got a call from nyu today and they asked me if I was still interested and I said yes. anyone else get that or think that means anything?
@torresca i got an email from them asking me to call them later, i fancy it will probably be the same thing. I guess you’ll have to wait and see, but i’d say it’s definitely a positive sign!
@paperblitz I think it may be a good sign too?! fingers crossed
So has anyone who applied to Steinhardt received updates on the waitlist status? Like an interest email or call or acceptance? Thanks a lot!
sorry mine was for tisch film
Anyone hear anything for Tandon and CAS ?
