So the fact that I’ll receive an “updated decision” by next week makes it sound like I’m going to be accepted because if I were to be denied they wouldn’t deny me until August 1st, just to ensure that they weren’t denying me until they were absolutely sure that they weren’t able to admit anyone else… And they said that they’re looking to admit more students to the department that I applied to, which gives me hope. Both of these facts give me a lot of confidence that I’m going to get in yet I’m still so worried. The representative contacting me said that he was forwarding my application to the Dean of Admissions for a “final re-review” and it makes me nervous because what if the Dean finds something that he doesn’t like about my application and last minute decides not to admit me? I dunno. I started freaking out because when they contacted me I had pretty much come to terms with the fact that I was not going to get in but then they contacted me and I got super super stoked and excited again and I just don’t want to get my hopes crushed again. I know that I’m completely overanalyzing this and freaking out but I can’t help it. Has anyone actually been denied yet?
Which school did you apply to?
I applied to Tisch School of the Arts and I just found out that I got in!!!
I just got an email from NYU saying they’re reconsidering my application as they may still have space at Tisch. They added “we can arrange to speak about your candidacy.” Does this mean I have to go through an interview process? Anyone have any idea?
@laurellea I would be very, very surprised if they wanted to set up an interview with you, seeing as NYU doesn’t really conduct interviews. They probably just meant email correspondance but if you are truly uncertain then I would suggest just asking them about it. However, I do think that this is a very good sign for you and that you should be planning to pack your bags and move to NYC this fall!

@KindaWeirdGuy They said they’d pass my application on to the dean, and the next day I heard that I got in. It took about 5 days from getting the first email asking about my interest to the final email saying I had been accepted. It really came out of no where. I’m hoping the same for you!
Well, it’s officially over. To those who got in, congrats! To those who didn’t, I hope that wherever you end up treats you well. I loved being a part of this thread - it really helped me cope with being wait listed.
