Oct. 6 Essay content

Yeah looking back at the posts.. i used Gandhi and MLK Jr Tied together and American Revolutionary War of George Washington( leader)... and still i got an 8!

how do u guys brainstorm examples in that amount of time?

I got like 10 for my essay upon Oct. It is the best part in the entire exam that I did not screw up.

I compare human identity by two views of Existentialist Philosopher Jean Paul Satre and German Idealist Immanuel Kant.

i just write about whatever comes into my head. in june i used charles lindbergh and schindler from schindlers list for the heroes prompt, and in october i used christopher columbus, watson and crick, and charles darwin for the originality prompt. just random people that popped into my head. but it worked.

Oh, that hero, I used dr Rieux in Camus' The Plague. I Love ABSURD HERO hehe

wow.. how do u do that? like honestly.. im having trouble thinking about literature examples.. i have examples of history.. can anyone help me on that?

Oh, I think if you love Literature, you can do whatever you want. I think if you read a lot, you definitely memorise some traits of your favourite characters. It is a natural inclination.

Here is my rule: NEVER use HISTORIAN CHARACTERs in SAT prompt like those above two, since they are very subjective (one may say Stalin is Hero, while other definitely object it).

So that I left me with Literature. Indeed, Philosophy also helps a lot with identity stuffs or similar things. And I am taking a course online apart from my ordinary schedule...

What can I help you? I think if you are learning AP Lit, then starting every books by list down characters, and then contemplate them a bit. It does not take time.

yeah, but what is wrong with that? it doesnt matter if your sat essay grader agrees with you. if you say that stalin is a hero and provide evidence to support it and write a good essay in general, you will do well.

you can write about whatever you want. it doesnt matter how subjective it is. your essay graders are mature people and they arent going to care if some teenager disagrees with them. they wont hold it against you.

Examples don't matter at all, you can completely make them up really.

yeah.. my problem is how to connect the people you brainstorm to what your excerpt is...

Let me review my essay and the way I write it.. maybe therefore you can tell me if anything else is wrong with my SAT essay.

Introduction:

Starting BS Quote.. sometimes I use Gandhi's...

Some BS with random vocab...

Thesis Statement ( with examples and everything)

Body:

Topic sentence like ( This is evident in literature, history..)

Some info

Ending sentence

Conclusion:

-Restate thesis
- concluding sentence...

anyone want to add or whatever i should do? I dont know why my essay grade goes down everytime i take it and ive taken it twice.. and the ACT three times...

ACT 1 : 11 2: 9 3: 8
SAT 1: 10 SAT 2: 8...

i dunno whts wrong!!

can you post your actual essay? go on collegeboard and then put the image in photobucket or something, and then post the link here.

are we even allowed to post essays like that?.. cuz wouldnt it violate the rules of collegeboard...?

For example, let's take this prompt:

Assignment: Is creativity needed moer than ever in the world today?
Without reading anything else, I already want to punch this question by telling straighly that it is the most stupid one I have ever seen. How can something is always necessary could be "than ever". So, immediately I know my essay is going against this freaking prompt.

Starting for example: "Creativity is the essence of human. For one can already distinguish idiosyncrasy between a human and an animal. We are not the strongest creature in this earth, since we can be torn apart by a tiger. We are not also the fastest runner, since we shall soon become a prey of a leopard. Then why we have become the owner of this planet? Why we always pride ourselves as the most intelligent creatures which can conquer our hostile mother nature, if not because of our creativity? No more lengthy disseration, the presence and necessity of creativity have always incorporated with human existence. It was the platform of all civilisations, was required in every stage of human developement. The role it plays today is only similar to what it did in earlier ages of human society.

I think what I hate this freaking essay is that it opens for inductive writting method, but restrict our deductive method. STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FREAKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

You know what, why do you spend bloody much of your force to prove 1 + 1 = 2 by telling how an orange plus an orange get 2 oranges.

dude.. cuong.. calm down!!!!!!!!!

no, its fine. thats why they give them to you: so you can improve.

Hey, adreaaaaaaaaaa
Just in case you ask me to post my grade picture, can I.... do this unclean thing in your private message or something?

cuong, your name and personal information arent on the essay.

The image is here, I guess this won't be illegal, but...

no, thats just your score. i mean your actual essay.

Then that is not how it is going to work with me, my friend.

Let say about human identity:
Compare how sharp an argument is with philosophy:

"Human identity is defined by their behaviour, for example, if A do b things, he is benelovence, so, that is his identity"

and:

"In terms of existentialism, we have never been WHO we are, but we are always becoming. In my opinion, Becoming, not being, is the key for one to find his identity within this nebulous universe."
and then you set out your argument like this

Premise 1: Human identity must be a collection of what makes him actually HE. He cannot belong to the they. He has to exert his authority upon his destiny, not someone else, even God.

Conclusion 1: To seek one identity is to seek after his distinguishness. Or more accurate, his Essence.
