October 2010 ACT English Thread

Free, im not debating that question anymore lol Im just going to assume that I read the question wrong and put the wrong answer. even tho I still think I’m right >.< >.<

Wongtongtong- I put ironically too. I completely eliminated the not unintentionally…so who knows

yea the subject has to come after the comma. Therefore, the creature needs to follow the comma. No other answers did that. Its the clear choice

Can anyone compose a list of the most widely agreed answers to all of the most difficult questions on the English test?

what did you guys put for the “had became, have became one”. I went with just become because the previous sentence was in the present and had became and have became don’t exist.

^I put “become”

For the whole not unintentionally and ironically question, I remember the question being like this: “How would you change it to make the sentence seem as if the ______ did this purposefully”

It obviously is not verbatim or they may not have use “purposefully,” but that is a paraphrase of the sentence.

^ yep thats what it said!

Hey Guys, here is what I put…

I was awakened
I now wouldn’t travel any other way
rapid tapping sound
inhaling dust
the bird’s appearance
the males OF species or something like that
ironically
It wasn’t her basketball skills, however, that caught the coach’s attention (or something like that?)
My father said,…, kneeling

Is it just me or did you guys get a lot of repetition.I was get like B G A F like the same letters in a row twice. I got a lot of “No Change” as well. Overall, this english section was much easier than usual.

lol only on CC would teenagers say “consolidated” list. Just sayin.

I would* get like B G A F, the same letters in a row twice.

it was definitely “not unintentionally”
litotes ftw.

dam litotes -_-

can we discuss some of the star gazing questions?
There was one with different verb tenses of ‘cause’ that i was unsure of.

^ I dont remember that cause question. more info please?f

there was one option that had “causes” and another that had “that caused”, which i belieeve was the NO ERROR option. The latter was my answer.

^ Still doesn’t ring a bell. you remember the sentence? :o

nope. This is ridiculuos. I think we’ve gotten past the point in which we cannot remember anymore. Let’s just wait for two more weeks.

^freerhyme.
I put causes because it isnt something that happened and doesnt happen anymore. the constellation causes there to be the overhead light. idk tho.

It couldn’t be “causes” because it needed a restrictive clause “that”

Without “that” (no pun intended), “causes” would not make the sentence flow.
