purpledogs, i forget the questions, i just wanted to know what other peoples interpretations were of that part. i dont know what it means by cooling of a fire, or why it starts talking about god

constantki and leemonkey1–I put allusions as well for that one. I saw some repetition (“and” started 4 or 5 lines, plus a few other things), but I wasn’t sure whether it was counting that really as repetition, and whether the mention of God counted as an allusion.

“The beginning of the child and darkness poem was like “mother died” … what did using that as the beginning do for the author?”

something about how it adds to the intensity of what the narrator was expressing, but i have no idea what the actual option was

adds “poignancy” or something

For the mother died question I was between poignant and the preceding events answer. I also got allusion because I think I saw some repitition.

I think the allusion option was actually more specifically a classical allusion, which is an allusion to greek or roman mythology. I don’t think that mentioning God fits in that category.

I second the poignancy answer

I also got great shortcomings and goverened. I wasn’t sure of those answers though.

right, allusions are SPECIFIC events in history, literature, or religion. I didn’t see any of that. Repition could be anything from repetition of phrases, to words, to structure, etc. so it is probably in the poem

and does anyone remember the answer choices for the “mother died” question? I remember thinking it was either the pigonacy or the other one, and I choose the other one, just don’t remember what it was…

For the Sophie poem, I thought the author was making a satire out of it, especially since it was written in 1903, a few decades before the women’s suffrage bill was passed. Did anyone else feel this way?

I also thought Sophia was a satire.

I picked:

poignancy

God governed (I was split, but I decided I’d go with governed because governed has a more authoritarian feel while decreed might be ordering it, but not necessarily making it happen)
Don’t remember what I put between allusion and repetition, but it now seems to me after what leemonkey said allusion was what was not there.

It’s a bit naive to go off of just one persons Inteprerarion. Sorry, but I think an allusion to God was more obvious than EMPHATIC repetition - with the repetition being the word and…
