October 2012 SAT Discussion

This week, I think I’ll focus on going over past questions and writing down all the mistakes I made in a notebook. I’ll do my best to rework the problems/questions I missed. After I review my mistakes, I’ll touch up my vocabulary and review grammar rules. I think I might go through all my past SAT tests and pull out the vocab words I’m unsure of (should give me a list of at least 30 words to work on–probably more).

T-minus 6 days. We can do it!

I’m so nervous guys! I haven’t had time to like study at all! So much school work! Then when I finally get a break all my body wants to do is sleep.

How many practice tests have you done overall? I’ve done around 16-18. I hope that’s good enough.

I’ve done around 14, and I feel like I’m prepared. I just hope I don’t bomb the essay or something on test day.

im taking it internationally…

hoping to hit 2100 at least, im praying to god for this to happen…
ahhhhhah

any quick help for math? just review BB tests? helppp!!!

@ChillyPenguin- Check out reason prep’s SAT math boot camp on YouTube. It’s a pretty good review of everything you should know now for the math section at least.

Studious, did you feel like the Dr Chung SAT Math helped you at all?

nothingto1: Chung’s Math did help. But I think studying for the Math Level 2 Subject Test with Barron’s helped me the most. It really helped me to hone my problem solving skills. Also, I had a great precalculus class that challenged me with great problems. I tend to miss one at most on the math section because of a careless error.

hope i can get 2100+

Scoring in high 2100’s to mid 2200’s need to get 2300+ on the actual. Please god, help me on Saturday.

all you guys hoping for 2300 should shhh and give me a couple points.
anyhow, yeah, i feel like concepts aren’t a problem, but rather the way that they are presented.

I dont know what to pray for :’(

My highest scores were 680 in maths, 700 in Writing and 560 in reading

So I’m absolutely terrified. I’m almost 23 years old and this is the first SAT exam I’ve ever had to write. (I’m Canadian and it’s a long story).
Here goes nothing. Eeeesh.

I’m utterly nervous. I think I am one of the 3 juniors taking it at my school this month. I’m seriously hoping for a 2100+. It’s one less test to take in May when AP season comes.

Hey guys! Junior here.

There are less than 5 days until the test-I can’t believe how quickly time flies.

I’ve been thinking about the logistics of a 2300 (let alone a 2350).

2300
-800, 800, 700
-800, 750, 750
-750, 780, 770
-800, 780, 720
-& all combinations in between…

Hmm…there’s not much room for error, is there?

2350
-800, 800, 750
-800, 780, 770
780, 780, 790
-etc…

Of course, a perfect score is just…

2400
-800, 800, 800

…beauty in simplicity?

Honestly, it’s a little daunting. But I feel like I’ll be so focused on test day that a super high score is within reach. My minimum goal is a 2300, which is an 80 point increase from the last time I took the SAT (March).

I hate that missing one or two questions on math drops your score a ridiculous amount, while missing one or two on CR (or even Writing, if you get a perfect essay score) is still an 800. Is math held to a higher standard?

I’m sick!!! :(((. Well there goes my score. Still studying vocabulary and hoping for a Miracle on Saturday, now. Best of luck to everyone else.

^^^ I can feel a cold coming on for me too. Looks like it’s time to break out the multivitamins to ensure that I’m okay on test day.

Ugh, I was hoping to study for SAT’s during the week, but I have a test in one of my classes every day this week. After Wednesday, it’s only AP English (which won’t require much studying), so hopefully I can squeeze in some SAT prep.

I know it’s nothing compared to some, but 1800, here I come. :)

I convinced my APUSH teacher to let me take his FRQ on Monday. Thank God he let me or else I would have been stuck.

For those of you getting sick, I loaded up on Vitamin C and carried around V8 for the past week and I’m feeling much better.

Quick update:

On Sunday, I went through 12 SATs I had previously taken and in a notebook wrote down all the questions I had answered incorrectly, their solutions, and the reasons why I had missed them in the first place. Then, I went through those same tests and picked out all the vocab words I was unsure of and compiled a list of them in my notebook. I’m currently in the process of defining each word. I also took down a list of about 30-35 essay examples.

Oh, and I did four 25 minute sections yesterday. I think I’ll do a few more today. I’m getting nervous, and I don’t like it. Nervousness can only hurt me. I’m going to try to relax as much as possible this week.

EDIT: I need to find a silent watch to use as a timer. I hope I’ll be able to get one at a local Walmart or something. I’ve heard it’s pretty difficult to find cheap watches that don’t beep, though.
