October 2012 SAT Discussion

“whereas” is correct cuz u cant put “however” after a comma , it would be a run on that way

What would be the curve predictions

Hey guys!! waves

I got 65 degrees as well for y. Since it’s an isosceles triangle and the two remaining angles are equal to 25 degrees, 90 - 25 = 65. That question really stumped me lol since at first I thought the 2 angles were different…with about a minute to go I (figuratively) threw my hands up and thought to myself, THEY’RE ALL RADII!!!

Okay, and I also got 2:1 for the ratio. I actually drew out 19 little mile marks and then counted out each rest stop/marker. Yeah, there were easier ways to do that one…

For that Carrier’s device one, I honestly don’t remember what I put…but I think I went with C, “these devices” blah blah blah. Dunno if that’s correct  honestly that and another answer both sounded pretty dang correct

And I didn’t even remember that expended question either. It was about space travel, right? I put either C, D, or E lol. Something with “that of” in it…

did anyone get “vague recollections” for one of the answers in the Yo passage (the one referring to the string of questions)

@raymond I don’t remember anything in the passage that indicated that his memories were vague. I think it was instead about his teacher’s odd questions (or something like that).

for CR passage, what did u guys get for the “point” why the father talked about him raising his hand in response to the teacher’s weird questions ?

i put something about his uniqueness , is that correct ?

and what did u guys put for what the “secret heart” symbolizes ?

I got 3 E’s on the error correction,

1.) Chancellor
2.) Cuttlefish
3.) Country musicians

…does that sound okay? I just realized that the country musician question was next to last and thus probably had a very difficult to spot error…or that I was being stupid :/

What did you guys get for passage one in writing the question that had to deal with in 1962…? “responding to this problem…” or “nevertheless>”

i put x+y < 180

^^ You were wrong.

Country musicians had an error it was the they are one of the best performers it should be some of the best…
Do w have a compiled math it’s my only worry for a 700+.

@raymondthepro

no, the answer was something about the teacher’s eccentric questions. I was about to put vague recollections as well, but if you read on, it said the teacher asked those and was later put in an asylum or something.

It is responding to this problem…

i put “responding to this problem” , even tho i personally think its kinda an awkward way to transition from sentences

I put the same thing as you guys for that passage: “only student who answered the teacher’s queries”. What did you guys put for the question in the Yo passage with the answer choices containing formal disclosure, personal reflection, passionate…something? It was about the type of passage, I think.

No, xDevilicious is wrong. X + Y could not be less than 180

golden, however, is right :)

writing question:

the last one the section 10
hikers… we did not throw the trash on the trail

devilicious do you mean x+z<180? im very sure it wasnt x and y. i think it was x+y+z>270, because since y>90 then the corresponding angle is also greater than 90 and x+y+z would be less than 270

responding to the problem was my answer. Wordy but others were more terrible.

Yep! pzowie is right. The answer was x+y+z>270. That couldn’t certain if y was greater than 90.
