October 2012 SAT Discussion

oh, yea.

x+y+z can’t be greater than 270

simulate a value.
91+89+89=269
100+80+80=260

^ Correct. That’s what did.

Did guys get the tour guide request that we not throw trash Or thr tour guide request that we did not throw trash

we not

For sure.

^Same. We not.

Okay, so there’s still not a consensus on the “that of” vs. “that in” question. I maintain that it’s the latter because of parallelism with the earlier “in expending” phrase. I did not see an “of” or any kind of possession, so I’m pretty sure the preposition “in” is necessary to preserve parallelism. The only argument I see against this is that “that in expending” is redundant, something I don’t find entirely convincing. Thoughts?

was the answer to the reflection questions (3, -1) ?
im so bad at reflections… -____-*

Yay! I put “we not”…I was going to put “did not” but something sounded off

@xDevilicius No. It was (-1,3) because it was reflected over y=x. The coordinate need to be over (1,1). (-1,3) was the only one tht would work.

Sounds like a good vindication to me, StudiousMaximus (lol)

@StudiousMaximus
I agree with you. The longer answer had complete parallelism, and the shorter answer had an ambiguous “that”.

for the kanzi apes one, what did author 1 think he was able to say? the choices were something like “bite doggie” and “matana play ball”

hide in the box one

The question about the x,y,z answer is x + z < 180. if y >90, then its two supplemental angles, x and z MUST be less than 90. therefore, because they are congruent vertical angles, they can never add up to 180.

It’s the one he WASN’T able to say. So it would be “Liz hide in box” or something along those lines…all the rest he could understand because they didn’t have prepositions

how about the

before…has___ / had___?

the one with the word “in” in it was the correct choice.

@Flickor …you just proved the answer that you said it wrong…is right…if they can never be 180 then <180 is correct

^the answer was E…they can’t add up to greater than 270…haha

90+89+89>180
