October 2012 SAT Discussion

@happy2012: yes and yeah it was

Oh, for the Kanzi passage, one of the questions was what would author 2 think of author 1 based on lines x-y. What was the answer? I put that he didnt believe in scientific conventions.

Cube normall has 54 surface area
Take out 1 small cube = remove 3
54-3=51

@happy no it was the insufficient skeptical thing

@nerdyjew but when you remove one cube you expose three surfaces 51 plus three is 54

Btw what score around is three wrong in math

but how does the quote show that? the quote was like, scientists dont want to believe chimps are smart because humans want to be unique.

@vanpersie on the may sat i missed 5 and got 690 so maybe 730?

Insufficient skeptical of human uniqueness means that too adherent to the idea that humans are unique the last paragraph said that others don’t wanna believe monkeys are smart that means they want too much to believe in uniqueness

How many different integer pairs satisfy the equation y = 10-3x or something like that. I chose like two pairs at the time. I had a feeling it was 3, but I wasn’t sure and panicked. Choice E was like more than 3 or something.

I know this is kind of off track but since most of us are seniors (I assume), do any of you guys know if having only 2 foreign lang credits ruin the chances of getting into selective private colleges like nyu, carnegie or even low ivy’s?

I know it’s different by schools but usually 2 is required and 3 recommended. But Cornell requires 3, so I started taking Spanish 3 online but it’s not working out for me so I’m about to drop the course…
Im taking 6 AP’s & I just can’t find time with all these college stuffs to do. Plus the last time I took Spanish was in my sophomore year. I don’t remember anything!

So my question is…
Is it possible to go to those colleges with only 2 yrs of foreign languages? Like, has it happened?

English is already my 2nd language  I was in esol until my freshman year

@Hap it was 3

@grap I think if you have the minimum requirements of foreign language credit then you should be fine ask in another thread people should know more

10charcharchar

^ yes i put 4.

And thanks vanpersie

colts, I had the 4 math sections also, and I was just wondering if you knew which of the grid in sections was the experimental…in every sat pratice test I have taken, the grid in was towards the end and that was the one that I thought was a lot easier in comparison to the first grid in section on this test.

Kespiokre, did you have one cr and two math (1 grid in, 1 mc) as your first two sections? If so, that grid in is experimental. The one with 2 circles on the same side of a tangent line and you had to find the perimeter of the traingle that forms through each point of the tangency. I think I got 8+8sqrts3 or something like that

what was the reading question about the way the scientist felt about dinosaur research. it was either something optimistic or schollarly enthusiastic?

Scholarly enthusiastic?

Aww, no full answer key compiled yet?
