@questionasker123 But doesn’t she say that “[she] values the overall spirit or genuine voice in her students’ work and yet (nag them about the smaller details of technique) like trimming their lines or writing better dialogue”?
I’m not sure- anyone else want to weigh in? I didn’t consider the second answer
I took the test today and I’m CERTAIN I bombed the CR. I definitely got 12-15 wrong. 3-4 wrong on math and probably a 8-9 essay. So there goes my 2100…
So should I sign up for the November SAT? How many of you here are retaking it in November?
for ameoba question about what the word appreciate means, was is it “admire its mode of movement?”
what was the question for finicky? and what passage?
@JuicyMango What kind of score are you expecting for each section? I can’t imagine you wanting to cancel a score unless its below 2200. Like you, I’m disappointed that I bombed the math (3 wrong, 1 omitted) when I always get 800s on practice tests, but there’s no chance in hell I would cancel the score. Just take lessons learned and try your best on the November test.
@ambitionsquared: Right now I’m calculating Math: 800, Critical Reading: 780, Writing: 760, but I probably did way worse than that…but you are right I won’t cancel my scores but I am retaking in November and will take it as a learning experience. Even though my score is 2300+, I know I could do better because I woke up with a sore throat today and could not focus throughout the test :/…also has to do with the fact that my parents are very strict and expect no less than a 2350+, preferably 2400 because my dad was an IIT grad and blah blah blah.
@sexysam: that question’s answer was “sufficiently enough” which is a redundancy error.
I definitely think the answer was not finicky given that the word next to it was superficial.
Here’s the dictionary definition for finicky: showing or requiring great attention to detail.
@mnallamalli97
I think I put something along the lines of “really understand the nature of the amoeba”
anybody remember most of the questions and answers they put for the zen passage and the one with the dual one??
Both words were supposed to convey a sense of “fussing over little details”. If it wasn’t finnicky, what else would it be?
@joeweller @JuicyMango Was it possibly dainty? I hadn’t held any hope until now for that choice being correct, but dainty is described as “of particular taste and discrimination; fastidious” and “overly particular; finicky”.
Since finicky and dainty are supposedly synonyms, it seems possible that neither would be the correct answer as the College Board wouldn’t risk a lawsuit over two potentially correct answers. I hope they simply messed up and decide to just nullify the question.
@JuicyMango Perhaps I’m confused with the context. Do you remember the other choice?
no it was finicky for sure
@JuicyMango for me I thought it was either ornate or finnicky
@ambitionsquared I don’t know, perhaps. The consensus on here means absolutely nothing until scores are released. Nearly all of us do well and give good answers so nothing can be truly ascertained unless we’re talking math.
The other choice was cranky
If you even look up dainty, you’ll see that finicky is a synonym LOL.
There was a question about function on math MCQ, anyone got -4?
@mango16 Could you justify it? I have no qualms accepting when I am wrong, but it does seem that dainty and finicky are synonyms.
