Yup, they are.
Is everyone supposed to get an experimental section? Like, sections that are obviously experimental with the triangles and shapes and things? I had that for my first test last year but I definitely didn’t in today’s. Does that mean that one of the other “normal” passages will be taken out and not graded, or that I simply didn’t get it? I know others in my testing room had one. Is this normal?
@joeweller: I actually really hope that College Board did mess up that question because I picked dainty :P.
@Evangelise: I didn’t pick ornate because I think ornate means “complex or complicated” and it usually refers to decorations of sorts but I wouldn’t listen to me because I really messed up on the CR this time…don’t know what happened, I usually always get 800’s cause its my strongest subject :(.
@kcarpenterfan everyone gets an experimental section. it’s the section that appeared 4 times.
what was the answer to the question that was like “where before he was… now he is … and enterprising”? I put lazy/indolent but I know now that indolent means lazy and therefore is wrong… Is it the slothlike/conscientious? I just felt like conscientious wasn’t a real antonym of slothlike… Also didn’t know what enterprising meant, so that didn’t help
@JuicyMango Yeah, me too lol. I changed about 3 of my writing questions last second, and I think that I originally got them right given the standards here. However, even with the consensus here, one can be wrong and one right. I think you were spot on with that contrast/compare one. Your logic makes perfect sense.
I was debating finicky and dainty. Then I ended up picking dainty because dainty seems like more ornate+finicky, so yea.
I was kinda sad when people here had consensus that it was “finicky”; I was telling myself “geez why do I have to think so much about that stupid vocab, jut pick finicky and I would be fiiiiine” lol
@kcarpenterfan slothlike is correct.
This revelation is the highlight of my night. On the one hand, college board might have to take out the question. On the other hand, if they do stick with fickle, I think those of us that picked “dainty” have a legitimate claim to demand the point from them. I’m stressed though that I haven’t so far picked an answer that is definitely wrong, but I’ve picked a lot that could be wrong:
- Trace origins
- Ominous
- Determined to teach
- Analytical
so say I had math 4 times… (not sure if it was actually math) math was an experimental section even if it was completely normal and similar to what the math section already it like??
@MarkieffBiggums hahahahahahahahahahahahaahah. on the real tho, some people just have different styles.
I put finicky. Dainty just didn’t seem to go with the context.
Aaand I put slothlike/concientous, because indolent/lazy meant the same thing, and none of the other answers made the slightest sense in the sentence.
@SpaceX Yes, I got -4 for the two absolute value graphs f and g.
when I read the compromise prompt all my literature examples just flew out the door. I ended up using three history examples… will that hurt me for lack of diversity/breadth? sigh. So many examples I can think of now…
@Hermit9 good stuff.
Slothlike/Conscientious was right by POE. Two of the other answers were synonymous, and two others disagreed with “enterprising”.
What would be my predicted score?
Math -1
Writing -2 11 essay
Reading -8
And should I cancel my score?
@asdfasdf12345 CR 680 M 770 W 800 Composite 2250.
My essay was a 12 for the ages. Hopefully it can carry my writing section to a 750+.
Did anyone have the experimental writing? It was only 18 questions and literally looked exactly like an ACT English passage. I was laughing so hard during that section because it was so obviously experimental and I finished in less than 10 minutes without even trying.
Just to clarify, slope of trapezoid was in fact 5/3.
