***October 2015 SAT (US Only) Thread***

The question about the friends walking and jogging was 12.5, NOT 2.5.

@ kcarpenterfan
They can’t penalize you for using 3 historical examples - heck, you can even use personal examples. It’s a standardized test, so they can’t penalize you for using your examples. It’s why you can “fake” your examples with ease.

My essay prompt had to do with honing a talent. Since my last essay was worse, and still got a 7, I’m hoping for an 8-9. Went into it planning to only write 4 paragraphs, since I can never manage 5. Did a decent job - wrote a page and a third. Got some strong vocab words in too.

@Hermit9 should i cancel my score?

Also for the zen passage, what did the narrator’s friends think of zen? Spiritual or learning new way of thinking?

Predictions?
Math (guess 3, omit 1)
Critical Reading (none definitely wrong, but let’s say 2)
Writing (0 wrong, assuming 11 essay)

@asdfasdf12345 Why should you unless you already have a 2250+? I’d be happy with a score like that.

@ambitionsquared CR 800, Math 710, Writing 800, Composite 2310.

@Hermit9 Are you sure? I put 12.5 at first, but then I assigned equations for both, and got 2.5

I got a reading section that had one question and then the next question asked ‘which of these lines is proof for the previous question’

I’ve never seen that style of questioning before, am I right in thinking that was the experimental?

yes

@PartyNextDoor Yes, it asked for how many yards the jogger had to travel before meeting, not how much time elapsed given one pace was 5 yards/sec an the other was 1 yd./sec.

@JuicyMango no need to argue with him. It’s always going to be the case when you are striving for a greater success: for me, when i got 32 on my ACT and decided to retake, my friend said “well there’s really no point plus I really don’t think you’ll do any better.”
Sometimes they just don’t get it. They don’t get when people really care about what they are doing or when people work hard for excellence.
So really, no need to argue. You know what I did? I just smiled at my friend and told myself to let her see what’ll happen. Cuz she said the same thing when I got 29, I’m sure maybe, if I’m blessed to get a 34, she’ll say the same thing again. So I don’t care :slight_smile:

@hermit9 Ah ok you’re right

Predictions?

Math: 1 guess, 2 omit
CR: 2~3 wrong
Writing: 1 wrong, assuming 11-12 essay

@JuicyMango You’re fine dude. It’s really inspiring to see people with such lofty goals that are able to succeed in reaching them. People like you motivate the rest of us to better ourselves on each test.

Don’t care about Math and Writing cause I can superscore, for CR thinking 6-8 missed. Boy, I’ll be on the verge of that 700, I’ll probably register for November SAT too

@browniebunny
730 Math, 780 Critical Reading, 800 writing, 2310 composite

Anyone remember the other answer choices for the sentence completion with the answer choices a) boorish and e) avaricious?

@Hermit9: Unfortunately, it seems to me that he is serious. And again, I just want to see that the fact that I was born into a prosperous family and I have all the resources that I would need for the SAT without even blinking an eye should justify my trying to achieve a higher score. You are in a different situation, and I appreciate the fact that you even respect your education enough to study for your test, unlike (undoubtedly) your other peers. I didn’t mean to offend you or your friends, I am sorry.

can I try for a prediction too?
