Offers of Appointment for class of 2010

My Appointment to the Class of 2010 came today...of course Harvard and USNA are really trying to screw with me by sending both official acceptances within 24 hours....

The Appointment is so pretty looking! In the letter, the one line that keeps bugging me though is "I hope you will accept this challenge"; how am I supposed to say "no" to that?

Peskemom, so true about everything going the same for me and Janell! I guess this means she will be receiving her Appointment VERRRRY shortly! Good luck with the MOC interview!

shawna

CONGRATS! (harvard is awesome too, ur going to usna right?)

sparkleandshine - i've been so back and forth, but now that i actually have both acceptances in hand, i am SOOOOOOOOOO incredibly torn. the emotional anguish i am experiencing is beyond what i thought it would be....i know there are worse situations i could be in (lol), but at least i have a lot of time to think about it. so tough, so tough...

GOOD LUCK with your decision. i def. haven't had to make one as tough as that. hope to see you next summer though!

Shawna: congratulations and wishing you the very best with your decision! What awesome choices!

Well it's official! The actual offer of appointment arrived yesterday! Whew! I guess we can stop worrying now (just gotta keep him healthy w/ no injuries during soccer season!). Bravo Zulu to all appointees to the class of 2010 - and also to all of you still waiting. Here's hoping that it all works out just the way you want it to!
Thanks (and BZ) to everyone who has posted here with great info, concerns and words of encouragement. All of your posts have sure gotten us thru some worrying & wondering!
We're looking forward to meeting all of you USNA parents in person. In the meantime, we'll be hanging around here watching for more good info! GO NAVY!!

Hey Shawna- How exciting! How wonderful! How terrible! How nerve wracking! How amazing! How awesome! How crazy! How terrifying! How incredible! How emotional numbing! How scary! How dizzying! How mind-blowing! How confusing! How heart-stopping! How blessed you are!!!

There - is that a rough approximation of the emotions/thoughts you are experiencing right now?????? Conbratulations honey!!! Your parents are not the only ones immensely proud and excited for you and the options that you have!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow morning at long last, comes Janell's MOC interview. This mom is much more nervous than she is. I know she will do more than fine - We have to wait until Jan. 30th for USNA to get any official notice of the Nomination - and then probably in Feb/March comes the Appointment....until then we - in the words of our BGO - 'perservere!'...just like the rest of you hopefuls in the Class of 2010.

I have a question. When a person recieves an appointment, does the admissions office post that status on the CIS site?

Thanks

Only on the BGIS site. So your Blue and Gold officer can usually see your status change within a few days of a board decision.

So, my BGO knows before I do? Mine told me I would have to tell him if I got in.

thanks peskemom! yes, you got my emotions down EXACTLY.

you're always so supportive! again, good luck to Janell tomorrow!

I am tripple q'd but dont have a LOA becuase i just took my PAE. I also just recived my MOC nomination, which my BGO was the interviewer for. He told me i was #1 on that MOC's list. should i be recieving an LOA or appointment soon? or is it too soon to call?

i have a question. if i have a LOA and got nominated but my medical status is "waiverable," do i still have to be cleared or i am guaranteed to go?

GoNavyBeatA - LOA's are scholastic based and do not consider...medical, PAE (CFA), or nomination status normally. When or if you recieve an LOA and/or an Appointment depends on how you stand among the competition. As much as 80% or more (of the offered appointments) won't here anything until February or later.

epidemik34 - It likely depends on what your "waiverable" catagory is and how you compete with similar "waiverable" candidates. Many waivers require you to specifically apply for them...so make sure you read up on the requirements on the DoDMERB and USNA catolog/website.

Best of Luck to both of you! And thanks for wanting to serve our country!

And of course...Merry Christmas and/or "happy holidays" to all.

epiemik24 - mine went from "medically disqualified" to "pending waiver review" to "waiver granted" because of my eyesight and allergy shots. I got a letter saying that I needed a waiver before they would offer me an appointment, then got the letter from Adm. Rempt about my waiver granted and my DoDMERB site changed.

yeah thanks

LOA came today--that with the nomination = you know what! It was fun to sing Anchors Aweigh to dd on her cell phone after swim practice!

Congratulations to your daughter!

Is an LOA only based on academics?

Scholastics (academics, EC's, Sports, recommendations, essay, etc)
