Official 2011 Yale Transfer thread

■■■■■■, ■■■■■■, ■■■■■■.

Could one of you copy and paste the beginning of your acceptance email?

Based on previous years, acceptees have received their acceptances through email prior to everyone else. But the fact that two people, with less than even ten posts, getting acceptances seems a bit bizarre to me.

entomom, I would assume you know about this, correct?

I’m with you, Smarts. Also, from the trends I’ve seen, Yale sends emails in the morning. Since both posts claimed to have received am acceptance email after 12 noon, I have an inkling that both were ■■■■■■■■.

Hi! I just got into Yale as an international transfer student. Here’s the text of my acceptance email:
Dear X,

Congratulations! I am delighted to inform you that your admission to Yale College as a transfer student has been approved. Your formal admissions packet will be mailed to you on Friday, and it will include the official letter of admission and information regarding the number of credits you have been granted. If you applied for financial aid, you will also receive a letter from the financial aid office with your admissions packet. You have until June 3rd to respond to our offer of admission.

Unless you tell me otherwise, we will mail your admissions packet to <home address=“”></home>

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I hope to see you on campus this fall.

These seem legit to me…

Anybody want to do what Transfer9858 did and call admissions?

Actually, I received my email at 8:53am. But I was in the middle of class.

This is just confusing to me. I guess I am rejected, but why would Yale would say that they did not send anything today, and that they’ll send decisions tomorrow?

Do internationals find out earlier/separately?

I’m not saying one way or the other, but in looking at the past (albeit short) posting histories of these members, they don’t appear obviously trollish. And I do know that a couple of years ago Y accepted a large proportion of Intl students as transfers.

I can’t check any further right now as I have to go. Just remember, whatever is reported here, it doesn’t change what your decision will be.

As an international student myself, I guess this means I’m rejected. Oh well, I tried my best  Good luck to all of you! Hope many people on CC get accepted.

Well, there’s still the waitlist, right?

haha im prob just in denial… but all the people who posted on their acceptance have had like 5 posts and they just popped up out of no where… and if you look at their posts… they were both rejected from basically everywhere except for yale… i would give up hope guys… but im prob just in denial as usual haha

Hey guys,

I’m currently a senior in high school and i’m going to a suny next year. I’m looking to transfer to columbia or yale and i was wondering what were the stats/extra curr. of the people that got accepted.
my high school stats are relatively high (GPA: 97, 2100 SAT, 7AP’s 5 on all, 2 SAT2’s 740 on both, top 5% (class size:1,200), officer positions in extra curr. activities and volunteering).
I do have family problems that prevented from doing more and doing better on tests but i didn’t write about them this year as i applied to colleges because i didn’t want to make excuses. But seeing where i ended up because i didn’t talk about my life and seeing people with my stats going to the best colleges in the country, I’m certainly not going to make the same mistake as a transfer. But other than that, do you guys have any tips?

@limboden: please post your question on a separate chance thread. I really get annoyed seeing chance-me-posts in an official thread like this which is supposed to help future transfer applicants.

Getting waitlisted does make you feel better but it also prolongs the anxiety. Having been waitlisted at Dartmouth, I’d prefer getting rejected to get some sense of closure haha :)

…but i AM a future transfer applicant

@limboden Yes, you are a future transfer applicant, so do everyone a favor and start a thread for 2012 Yale Transfers if you want to discuss your issues here. Kthanks.

Please keep on topic: current Y transfer applicants.

I find it slightly intriguing that last year’s 2 successes, nvilla and doctor, received their acceptances at 9:00AM and 8:58AM respectively. sonomo says his email is timestamped 8:53, but his earlier posts suggests he’s from a California Community College.

Nvilla and doctor can instinctively say their timestamps since they were both in the same Time Zone as CT: DE and MA respsectively.

Sonomo’s giving 8:53AM as the timestamp could mean that

He received it at 8:53AM PT, which means Yale sent it around noon ET, which conflicts with the morning trend.

He received it at 8:53AM ET, or 5:53AM PT, and it’s absurd that a class would start that early.

Again, the successes have been somewhat dubious, but if they’re legit I guess we’ll just have to accept our rejection emails tomorrow.

Which sucks for 45daysinrome, as (s)he was quite active in last year’s thread, and this would be her last chance at Yale undergrad. Where are you coming from 45daysinrome?

Seems less and less suspicious.

Last years applicants were notified early as well. My apologies for the ■■■■■ accusations.

^ I’m also suspicious of the fact that most colleges are in finals right now. There are no classes during finals. Yet, sumono says he was in class. In fact, many schools are already done for the year. The only schools that would have classes are schools on the quarter system, and there’s only a small handful of colleges with such a system.

But anyways, to those who claimed to have received an acceptance, congratulations anyway. The rest of us will know our faiths tomorrow.
