Official 2012 February ACT Curve Discussion

Someone who's informed please post about the possible curves.

My personal wish is this:

English: 36 (-0)
Math: 36(-1)
Reading: (-1 ~ -2)
Science: (-1)

But, I don’t think it’ll come true… -sigh-

Curves are always predetermined by previous tests, so you may never know =/ This is my input.

English: For sure, the curve will be a bit harsh. Probably a -1 will drop you down to a 34 or something.
Math: It was actually quite difficult. I could have sworn that I saw 3 questions from the math section that were exactly copied off of the Barron’s practice test. Anyways, probably -1 will still be a 36. A -2 or -3 could most likely get you a 35. Math geniuses can rejoice upon that.
Reading: I hate reading. But, if I had to guess, I think -1 will actually get you a 35 and a -3 will drop you to a 33.
Science: Science curves are ALWAYS harsh. But, as I looked at the science, I’m guessing that -1 will get you a 35, -2 will get you a 33, -3 probably a 32, and -4 most likely a 30.

These are just guesses. I’m never right most of the time…though, I pray that I did well 'cause this ACT was probably one of the more difficult tests I’ve taken out of all the practice tests I’ve done.

Yes. It was my first time taking an ACT and…

This ACT > All Real ACT Prep Practice Tests

I got 35s on the last tests (practice tests 4 and 5), but I’m thinking I’ll get like a 33 on the real one…

I think the English curve will be normal (similar to the December test.) I think the math curve will be good (-1 = 36, -2,-3 = 35). I think the Reading curve will be normal (similar to the December test). I think the science curve will be really harsh (-1 = 35, -2 = 33, -3 = 31).

December Curve is below:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/act-preparation/1279603-anyone-interested-december-11-curve.html

I thought the English section was harder than normal (with 1 or 2 iffy questions), but nevertheless I think the curve will be normal/slightly nice. I’m pretty sure that you’ll be able to miss two and still get a 35, mostly because the December english section was much much easier IMO (I got a 36) and the curve there was pretty lenient)

English: 36 (-0), 35 (-1,-2), 34 (-3) etc

As for math, I can honestly say that this was the hardest math section I’ve ever taken (I usually get 35s/36s and don’t usually miss more than 2-3 questions… but I already know for sure of 3 that I’ve missed… yikes). I do sincerely think that the math curve will be lenient, especially at the top tier.

Math: 36 (-0,-1), 35 (-2,-3), 34 (-4), etc

Reading was not that bad. Curve will be normal-harsh.

Reading: 36 (-0), 35 (-1), 34 (-2), etc

Science curves are always incredibly harsh. This test was hard, but IMHO, it wasn’t much harder than previous ones I’ve taken (especially not december). It will probably be normal (harsher than the lenient december one and more lenient than some of the completely cruel ones).

Science: 36 (-0), 35 (-1), 34 (-2), 33 (-), 32 (-3)

Eh, just my guesses. I guesstimated pretty well for the December curve, but we’ll see! I wouldn’t mind if I’m wrong b/c the curves are nicer though!!

Yea ncdukie the english on Dec Test was much easier. I barely finished this one on time due to second guessing problems but on Dec i had like 5-10 mins left

Did anyone else find the science (or just the last passage) quite challenging? I thought it was the hardest part of the test

Also do you think I can get into Howard University with a 15? I got a 15 composite on the December ACT and I didn’t feel too good about this one

@chunkylover: Yes, the science section was very difficult for me. You should definitely improve your score. I live in a pretty lenient state, and minimum scores for admission to public universities here are 21-23, and those are pretty low. Statistics-wise, a 15 is only getting 1/4-1/3 of the answers right. That said, I’m trying to increase my score to a 28-30 so I can have some hope of getting merit-based scholarships. Getting into college is easy. Paying for college isn’t.

Anyone know when the score will come out

February 27th.
