Official 2014 NYU Transfer Thread

@kan123‌, so you’re saying everyone who has not yet heard back are going to be rejected?

@crazynewton‌ Nope, I think @kan123‌ means that the system of accepting high school students off the wait list (the said remaining 50) is completely separate from how they accept transfer students.

Are all the students who got accepted had their fa page change before they know their decision? I am so anxious :frowning:

I second @crushingpennies‌ 's interpretation. That’s also what I got from the blog post

@crushingpennies yup that’s what i meant!

Good luck everyone!

@theyadoreyou‌ thank you! I think I’m going to try it because I really, really want to go to NYU and I just feel like I should try it. I also read somewhere that you can internally transfer from that school to another NYU school so I might try to do that as well. Thank you for your input though!

For all of you guys waiting to hear a decision, what does your financial award summary section say?
Mine just says :

Select Aid Year to View

Award access not available.

@yhan94‌ Same as mine.

@yhan Yeah mine is the same too

@yhan94‌ Same here.

@Yhan94 same.

Was denied today,

Applied to Chemical Engineering from California CC
GPA: 4.0
No Electricity and Magnetism or thermodynamics for physics, Linear Algebra, or the Organic Chemistry series.
Finished up to Multivariable/Diff EQ and mechanics for physics and all the general chemistry series. Had some english composition courses and general education based courses.

I also had a high school diploma equivalent, have been in community college since after my sophomore year of high school (two years ago) with a lot of 4 hours a week of community service for a school year at local schools and involved in honor society at college.

I think I was rejected because of my high school diploma equivalent (not a GED), guess they did not like it.

@mattiee by any chance did you take the CHSPE?

@itslora Yes I did

@mattiee‌ I’m sorry to hear the news. From what I gather, once you’re X credits into your degree they tend to look less at your HS (or equivalent) record. Maybe take some more classes in the fall and reapply for Spring semester? I am a equivalent (GED) recipient myself, so I applied with 75 credits to make sure they wouldn’t rely on my old academic record and lack of SAT/ACT scores.

today the admissions committee emailed my teacher to finally confirm that they received the letter of recommendation and i just checked my housing status and it changed from “non renewable undergrad” to “transfer undergrad” anyone know if that is a good sign???

@mae742‌ Can’t say for sure, but that’s what happened to mine before I got my acceptance. I’d lean towards positive!

@mae742‌ @theyadoreyou‌ did you guys apply on campus housing before?

@ftgirl nope I’ll be commuting so I had no reason to apply. Just checked it for admission clues lol
