@becca123 internationals don’t get a call, do they?
@becca123 I live in NJ so I’m guessing they won’t call me, just send the letter? Idk
@becca123 assuming I get in lol
hmm so they’ll only call accepted people who live near GT?
I was thinking the opposite, they only call people who don’t live close. @caligirl97111
ooh ok, yeah that makes sense. i was just looking at last year’s thread and people from the west coast received calls before their letters since the letters took so long to reach @markpasenter2
do you guys happen to have any info for internationals?
@stodghill I applied to the School of Foreign Service. My essay addressed the Crimean Crisis and the issues with the multinational minorities.
I was reading this and it said an interview was necessary and I didn’t get any notification about an interview. I did apply late but did I miss something? Thanks.
Does anyone know if there is a login/georgetown portal??? I know decisions come in the mail but is there any way to login to something? I received no email or anything about it
@fulofsteel GT would’ve emailed you and given you your interviewer’s contact info, but since you applied late I guess they didn’t have enough interviewers left? I doubt it’ll count against you
@markpasenter2 As far as I know, there is no GT portal. There isn’t a way to check your application status either, since GT will contact you if you’re missing anything.
@stodghill I applied SFS! I discussed the global reaction to Islamic terrorism and the Western perpetuation of all Muslims as “terrorists”. Specifically focused on the Patriotische Europäer gegen eine Islamisierung des Abendlandes in Germany
@stodghill - Would you mind sharing your essay?
I applied to SFS as well, @stodghill ! My essay was on the failures of democracy on global and domestic scale, citing how the idea of a democracy has evolved into something that hurts more than helps: the impact democracy has made psychologically with American citizens (arguing how too much freedom is a bad thing) and how developing nations are adopting a free or democratic process that is failing them more than helping them. I suggested ways to strengthen that bridge between freedom and social liberties as a way to help solve the issue on a global scale
So, do you all think they’ll send out the letters today, Saturday or Monday? They haven’t posted anything on the Undergraduate Twitter account yet - for EA they posted the day they were sending out the letters. What’s everyone thinking?
My essay to SFS was really non-specific. I felt like there was a lot I wanted to address and not enough words. I talked about tolerance and the current global lack of it, and how it is part of America’s role as a world leader to use our (very loud) voice to address that.
Edit: I’m reading over my essay again, and… I think I need to reconsider my career. My essay is so nonspecific that I could be a presidential speechwriter.
I do hope they send letters soon ahah… maybe Saturday as someone had posted earlier?I also applied to SFS and wrote on the presence of “extremism” either it was Islamic extremism, right-conservative extremism, mass shootings, or terrorism and such… and connected it to influx of refugees…
@whitespace, I think I laughed a little too hard at your post.
@stodghill - I also applied to SFS and wrote mine through an environmentalist perspective and spoke to the disastrous nature of unsustainable lifestyles and how interdependent developing nations’ advancement is to sustainability or lack thereof.
Also, I wanted to wish everyone here luck - whether you’ve applied to the Ivies or elsewhere and are still waiting. (Ivy Day is in a week. RIP.) You’re all amazing applicants!
@zimzamzoom Not as hard as I laughed while reading over my cheesy essay. It’ll be a miracle if I get in.
But yes, best of luck to everyone! No matter where we all end up, we’ll all get the chance to explore our passions and make a difference in our world.
I applied to SFS too
