***Official 2020 Georgetown RD Applicant Thread

i live a mile away from Georgetown. I’m currently in New York now, so hopefully I could see it when I get back home tonight!

The mail did not go out until after close on the 24th (they did not post until 6:30) so the mail actually just got into the post office today. People will not start seeing anything until tomorrow. Deep breaths until tomorrow.

That’s kind of what I suspected - looks like a “welcome back from spring break” present for me on Monday then haha

fingers crossed for everyone! I’ve been checking collegeconfidential like its an unhealthy habit now lol. I just got my acceptance from one of my top choices today so acceptance to georgetown isnt the life or death situation it originally was for me, but Im still very anxious. I haven’t quite mastered the virtue of patience yet lol. I fit the stats but I never took the SAT–But I got national commended scholar for the PSAT junior year so I was like “eh.” If I dont get rejected Im expecting the wait list because my counselor sent the midyear report and secondary school report on the 21st!!! I can’t deal lol

Congrats on getting in to your top choice. What college?

Hello friends! Georgetown freshman here. Just to clear some things up, Easter break for us ends on MONDAY so East coast people can expect calls on TUESDAY. ALL the envelopes are small REGARDLESS of your decision. You will recieve a NetID and password for an online portal in your acceptance. Anticipate that it will probably NOT work. Stay calm and call the help number that will be printed below. For all you socially anxious people, password resetting is an automated process. You will NOT talk to a real person. Also, for any of my fun URM peeps in the thread, you’ll probably get an email in the coming weeks about Hoya Saxa Weekend. Georgetown pays for you to come to an extended GAAP weekend. Please come it’s great. I regret not going lmao. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I’m on campus for Easter Break and have buckets of free time.

@JoeGoe thanks for the info! Do you know of many people who were deferred EA and accepted RD?

@JoeGoe Best post yet,

Thanks. :)>-

@tateem , oberlin college and conservatory! Since Im hella poor, I was a questbridge applicant and so $62,000 of the 66k each year for the cost of attendance is covered automatically! Im super happy but im still curious about georgetown!

@admitmemaybe My current roommate was. I’m also friends with a few people who got in off the waitlist.

@JoeGoe , so are you saying that the decision letters DO NOT tell you whether or not you were accepted? But rather they only provide a NetID and Password to a portal that you log into? Seems a bit silly that they would waste money to send out envelopes to everyone that don’t contain admissions decisions, when an email would be more than sufficient with a link to the same thing. :-S

Lol you sound really worried. The letters will indicate whether you got in or not.

@northstarfx Sorry if it was confusing. If you’re rejected I’m pretty sure it’ll just flat out tell you.

Just got gutted by UVA. Hoping for a better result from Gtown, as it’s one of my top choices.

Any way to know if they mailed priority?

Because none of the people that live close by received anything, I suspect they mailed the letters late yesterday afternoon. So probably Monday for most of us on the east coast?

Bay Area here, I’m excited

@haagensass Congratulations! I hope you get into Georgetown but Oberlin is a great school. My friend’s older brother went there and had a great time. $62K covered is so awesome, talk about avoiding debt. You should be hella proud your hard work paid off!!

Just got into UVA. Should I be feeling good about Gtown now? Who knows… :-S

@tateem thanks!! hopefully we both get in and I see you there
