***Official 2020 Georgetown RD Applicant Thread

@Zman555555 I got into UVA too! Congratulations.

Well, this thread is next on my list to blow up/lurk :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like no one’s got their letters yet, though.

@Anonymoose3 I see you everywhere! :)) We’re expecting first letters to come in tomorrow for people in the region surrounding DC.

@whitespace if Georgetown priority mailed it (which I hope so) San Diego is also supposed to receive them so… Good luck to everyone tomorrow!!

@whitespace - Hello again :stuck_out_tongue: Feels so weird cycling through these threads with much the same people.

@gracein19 san diego is supposed to receive them tomorrow? Isn’t it too soon? I live in southern California so I’m very nervous.

Good week so far! Accepted to Cornell, Emory, Rice, UVA and Duke. Waitlisted at Northwestern and Vanderbilt. Rejected from Stanford. But as a probable Political Science major, Georgetown seems like the place to be. If I get in, it’ll be tough between Duke and Georgetown. How should I go about deciding that? Would any of you choose Georgetown over UPenn/Columbia/Duke for polisci?

Hello! Fellow Georgetown hopeful here! My sister who went there said that their political science department is not particularly great, but their government major is really really good and very similar. Nevertheless, I’m sure being a political science major living in the capital will still be just fine and you’re bound to get tons of opportunities to find internships/work.

Just curious, how have you heard from Cornell Vanderbilt and Emory? neither have released regular decisions yet

@perksofbeingdani I looked up the Georgetown zip code on USPS priority mail & it said it’d take 2 days to get here in San Diego… but i don’t know that georgetown priority mailed the letters so it may not arrive till monday.

i’m just thinking it’ll be monday and will be pleasantly surprised if it shows up tomorrow

Cornell let me know early through an invitation to a diversity conference, Emory emailed me a week ago with an early acceptance letter, and Vanderbilt released last friday.

any chance the letter comes today ( im in NJ)

I hope they do, but it looks like they will come Monday.

@gracein19 not too sure about getting the letter today in San Diego-- east coasters haven’t said anything about getting theirs yet, and I would think that they would be first. Nothing here in Florida for me yet, and I was within the two day range too. Monday is probably looking better for most of us.

I’m in Florida and I still think the letter may come today. I applied EA and my deferral letter came within two days, and I went to my local post office yesterday and they told me priority shipping this time of year from DC (unless there is a major accident on the way) would most likely take two days. I don’t usually get mail at my house until it’s between 2 and 4, but we’ll see! If not today then 100% it would have to be Monday, but I’m still betting today

I got my EA letter on a Monday, and I think they sent them on a Thursday. So given that the letters are probably going to take the same amount of time, I am guessing they will come on Monday, since some people said they were sent thursday. I live in NJ

My son just recieved his letter (regular decision) sent first class mail. Unfortunately he was rejected. We live on Long Island, NY.

@Greegel2 thanks for sharing that you received a letter. I’m sorry to hear about the rejection- I am not too optimistic myself. Good luck with the rest of this process. I am glad it will be coming to an end soon.

D got acceptance letter in NJ … Pretty fast… and it is not priority its regular mail

The EA letters in December sent on Friday, the 11th. So for me it took two days. Sorry to hear about that @Greegel2 :frowning:
