@Hoorent congrats!!! where do you live? (curious as to the sunday delivery)
For me snail mail is a killer - we are trying to plan a trip out to the east coast depending on where I get in and airfares are going up by the hour…
snail mail is terrible!! are all letters priority mail or just acceptance letters? did anyone in Virginia get their letter today?
I think mail is more humane in that you know where you’ll be when you get the news, and usually thats at home. Online portals make it possible for people to learn of decisions in class or in public which is rough. I think its somewhat unfair that people receive their decisions at different times. But when most colleges released decisions by mail, there weren’t sites like this for people across the country to discuss when their decisions arrived.
I like mail.
I think @kipler you have a great point about people being at home. The decisions I’ve gotten have been a rejection at work (I had to get right back to cheerfully greeting people) and an acceptance at my grandma’s. I think it also gives you a sense of excitement that maybe you don’t get when you just refresh the page. It’s more tangible, I think.
I also think it’s unfair that people get their decisions at different times. But I’m sure snail mail is much more rewarding and fulfilling if you get an acceptance.
There are definitely pros and cons. In an era where people couldn’t see when others were getting the mail as easily as the internet allowed, mail made by far the most sense. With portals now, getting decisions in public is not just bad when you get rejected. I got an acceptance in psychology once, and I couldn’t act excited which i think really took away from one of the few good parts of the college process.
For those waiting on decisions, did anyone successfully hack the portal system?
Did anyone hear from the financial aid office these past weeks asking for further information, or financials they needed? Did not hear from Georgetown, but did hear (in late February/early March) from William and Mary and the University of Richmond (accepted at both). Hopefully will receive mail from Georgetown tomorrow - will be glad to find out…
@skicolorado I haven’t heard directly, but Georgetown did show up in my IDOC.
Did anyone get a call?
@rhartman24 they are closed Easter, calls start Tuesday
how is it that all of my friends are getting their letters but i am not??? expecting to get denied but the wait is killing me!!
@almondmilk Where are you from?
Did anyone east of Ohio get a letter Saturday?
do only admitted students have/get NET IDs?
@wipack a lot of people east of ohio got letters on saturday. did you mean west? no one on this feed did
If the letter isn’t here tomorrow, I may go insane. I just want the waiting to be over with!
@wipack i live in virginia, about 30 minutes from georgetown
You could try this link
https://portal.scs.georgetown.edu/portal/logon.do?method=load
and click forgot net ID and enter your email and see if it works or try and click under and see if it lets you create a new student profile
Did it send you your NetID just from giving your email?
