Official AP Calculus AB 2011 Thread

MC was pretty easy, but I still got quite a few wrong =/. FRQs were HORRIBLE. I don’t think I got more than 3 on any one FRQ. =[

Ugh, soo bad. I thought the calc MC was fine, noncalc MC was meh. The FRQ’s were very bad. I though the calc ones were ok but the noncalc ones were just horrible. #5 killed me

if ppl do badly on FRQ, will the curve overall be better?

FRQ #5 made me raeg. Everything else was OK, except I was so focused raeging over #5 that I had to rush through #6. I might possibly get a 5 if my score holds up after only getting two or three points on #5. All the others I might have gotten anywhere from 5-7 on, depending on how accurately I was able to show my work.

free responses = GG :frowning: HOLY CRAP I THINK I FAILED AHH

I’m glad everyone else had trouble with the FRQ’s because I found them to be very difficult.

I thought the Multiple Choice was reasonable, you had to think, but reasonable. FRQ seemed tricky and hard but nothing strange and out of the ordinary.

The MC were ridiculously easy, and the FRQ were eh.

Other than the last two FRQs and maybe 6-8 MCs, I got mostly everything right. Easy 5 for me.

I feel that the no calcultor MC section was the hardest, time wise. I was able to complete all other sections, MC & FRQ, in the allotted time and didn’t have any problems with any of the questions. I just ran out of time on the first section where I guessed on 2-3 of them.

The calculator MC section was extremely easy, I finished in about 20 minutes. Was it just me or was that section extremely easy?

I’ve never taken any full length AP Calc AB tests in the past so I can’t comment on how on the FRQ’s hardness compared, all I know is that it took me almost the full duration to finish the sections working at a pretty fast pace.

I would agree that the noncalculator MC wasn’t too bad, even more so considering the time constraints, but compared to other FRQ’s I’ve seen (I looked at many last night cramming in some study), these were a lot different. Especially question 6.

@silenex i agree the no calc mc was kind of hard based on time. i think i got maybe 5+ wrong but not too much.
the fr weren’t that bad, my teacher gave us a lot of past fr to practice on.
the 5th and 6th were eh.
first 4 i was pretty confident on unless i madea stupid mistake or i didnt explain enough/put sufficient work.

Free responses were incredibly difficult. Almost impossible for me. BUT GUYS. It’s not about how well you can do. It’s how well you can do against everyone else. So if the entire country did horribly, we’re probably not in extremely bad shape :D

Why do everyone think the FRQ are hard? I think they aren’t that bad #5 a) was tricky though, and part of #4… The MC no-calc was time wise hard, I had like 5 problems left and 4 blank/guessed… the MC calc was okay. So if I’m lucky I can get a 5…

i felt ok about the multiple choice.
1-4 FRQ were cake.
5-6… eek… i’d be happy if i got a combined 4 points for those two.

I meant 5 when I said six, although six was a *** for sure.

5… -.-

Number 2 on the calculator FR…
At first I thought it was cake but then I realized i read it wrong.
I think H(t) was just temperature not a rate…right?

Does anyone think that the raw score for a 5 will be significantly greater than past years because of the removal of the penalty?

Well it’s comforting knowing that lots of people had difficulty with question five and six of free response. Lol at the end of the exam I yelled “There was no frkn ‘t’ (reffering to number 5)” Well i think it’s safe to assume that the curve will be generous considering the lots of contempt towards the FRQs

No the scoring multiplier will just decrease.
