*****Official AP Chemistry After-test Thread*****

When I showed up for school this morning, I thought I would fail for sure. (And accidentally walking into the Enviro. exam room two minutes before the bell rang didn't make me feel as though luck was on my side!) I actually thought the test was pretty easy, except for the lab frq and a few other little things. My teacher definitely told us that formal charges weren't covered on the ap exam, though!

Arggg AP chemistry. How I loathe thee. I am predicting a solid 3 for myself simply because I *****ed up rate laws. The MC was a breeze...Attempted 45 and 99% sure I got them all right

yeah, formal charge was annoying. guessed right on that though. MC was pretty easy, i omitted 6 that i didn't feel like doing (i.e. balancing took too long), and am pretty sure about all the rest. FR was awesome. 1 and 2 were v. easy, confident in near-perfect score there. Rxn sets I nailed, though not completely about the complex ion one, 5 I did OK on, the first part I probably got wrong (what was up with those gases?) but the rest I'm confident I got right, 6 was fine, except I got the angle wrong, and had the wrong explanation for formal charge, but oh well. 7 - if they can read my handwriting - I nailed. That test made me happy! I def. got a 5.

Flame testing ravaged me. Gah... I put down so much scientific b/s. If that's possible. Man oh man. Good curve, please?! I think I got like a 3.

where was the flame test? i didn't even see that...if ur talking about 5, i dun think that's flame test.

It was question 5. It involved a flame nonetheless.

lol, flame test is usually metals and colors. i bsed that...and it was not a flame, lol, it was a "hot glowing" piece of wood. :p

i thot i got a 5.

i did better on that than on any practice test ive taken

MC was relatively easy, i wish Sat2 was like it.

I think 100% 1 and 3, i think all 15 on reactions, missed maybe 1-2 parts of 5, 1 on 6, hopefully 100% or close on 7, maybe i missed one.

I think thats a 5. HOLY CRAP!!!!

I thought I would never be able to do it!!!!

im lookin at 60+ for MC

all the points for 1/3/4

some points for the rest

overall 5 i hope :)

what composite score do you need for a 5 - is it 100 or 107?

MC was pretty good. First questions were a bit shocking in terms of difficulty (usually they are really easy) but after the initial shock I re-adjusted myself and the questions really weren't too bad if you used POE. I know I got 5 wrong, and overall I'm pretty sure I got 60-65 right. Also, good thing I'm really good at organic...!

FR was interesting!

FR1 was pretty good (I got at least 6 points, which is pretty good for that type of problem). FR2 is probably easy for most but I never know how to do a and b for that type of problem so I probably got like 2 or 3 points - part d was wicked easy though! FR3 was not too bad but I forgot how to do those so... lol

I got 15/15 on FR4 - guaranteed. I remembered every reaction I did and re-did them on a piece of paper when I got out of the test to make sure, and I know I got all of them correct. w00t!

FR5 - lab question was on the easier side IMO. I think I only missed a tiny part in part a but otherwise full credit. Part b was extremely easy and part c was really easy too - I know my solubility rules like the back of my hand, so that's easy for me.

FR6 was decent. I messed up one part of a and one part of b, and I think I screwed up d, so 5/8 is what I got. But good thing I studied that stuff the night before or else it would have been way worse!

And FR7 was really easy, I'm sure I got full credit on that.

FR8 wasn't too bad, but I was better with FR7's content.

So definitely a 4, about 75% chance for a 5 too. All contingent on how dismal my FR2 score was. However, 15/15 on reactions really will help counter my dismal FR2 score! Good luck to all for your scores!

we're supposedly not allowed to discuss the test in detail right?
i have some detailed questions i wanna ask...
when can i do this?
thanks
ps: would pming be ok?

Wait where were these flame tests, I saw none in the MC or FR, All i say that invovled flame was the lab question but you weren't supposed to say the colors.

Are we allowed to go this in depth? don't kids take it tomorrow?

Not until 48 hours after the test. However, you can say what you overall thought of the test (and of each FR individually); mostly, you can tell about how difficult/moderate/easy the test was until 48 hours after the test.

It wasn't a flame test, it was a glowing splint test.

No, I meant the MC question about the flame test. And there were a bunch on dissociating ions and the color they take on. Yeah... Never went over ANY of that.

i don't remember any mc questions about a flame test, and there were only about two or three about the colors of ions, hardly a bunch when you consider the nice curve.

self-studying this subject was a big mistake... I got a 1 for sure. Good thing we can withdraw scores :-|

That was not bad at all.
I think the FR was pretty easy and so was MC

hopefully i got a 5 !

i thought the multiple choice was significantly harder than the other years (2002,1999). the free response was ez but i always do well on FR.

i cannot believe that you guys think the mult choice was easy. i usually do well on the MC too.

if any of you have taken the 2002 version, you'll know that on this test, the mc is way harder. i only got 7 wrong on that test. on this test, i'm expecting like 15 or 20 even wrong.

who agrees?

The first 15 of the mc were more difficult but overal they were about the same (anyway if people do worse, theres a better curve).
