Compared to the Chem Olympiad, that was an absolute joke. There were only 2 or 3 multiple choice that I made an educated guess on, but all of them were pretty easy. Free response was a joke, especially the reactions. Honestly, I think they could have chosen a more difficult laboratory Free Response question, the one they chose was pretty standard and can be found in the curriculum of any general chemistry class. That's just my opinion though...

are you sure its 6 ligands?! i know that the ligands are usually double the charge so i put 6 but i completely bs'ed it and wasn't sure about it at all.

the lab question was a gift, a very well appreciated gift. thank you cb... for once.

can anyone explain the theory behind it?

I think the complex ion is one of those "special cases." It was where the answer was like, "This is okay, but this is also okay," I hope...

To be honest, since I was so hyped for acids/bases/sp, the equilibrium problem kind of disappointed me. I'll probably elaborate later, just to be safe.

Worried about that second reaction prediction one. Turns out last year's reactions were too simple... :P

That very last FRQ was weird... I hope I gave the right answer, even though I don't believe in it. In fact, I believe in that question being an error even more. :P

For some reason I dont feel like the same test was given to everyone, because the FRQ's were not that easy to me. I do agree with the MC though, it was easy.

But eq. problem was different, which made me skip it and go to the next question. It took me a long time to do the second part, and the third part I got stuck at again. 1 and 3 killed me. Everyone thing else was manageable.

I put 6, but I'm pretty sure 4 is also a potential answer.

Overall, I think that the test was not crazy-hard. The MC was pretty easy but I feel angry at myself for getting one of the organic chem questions wrong.

But, the FRQs were just... I dunno. Lab has never really been my strong suit and I knew for the last part of the equilibrium what the answer was (I think I knew what it was, at least) but couldn't explain it in calculations. So meh, I kind of had to BS that part. And I had to skip two for the lab question. But, overall... I think it was okay. Nothing that I walked out of feeling like I aced it, but nothing I walked out of sobbing.

I will agree with what other people are saying and say that it is a little annoying to come on here feeling like crap for missing easy questions on the AP test for someone to come on and brag about how easy it was, but meh. It was my choice to get on here and I've already seen a lot of that in other threads, so I just choose to ignore it. On the other hand, though if I had to be honest, I would be a little ecstatic if I came out of a test feeling like a solid 5 and probably wouldn't censor my ecstatic...ness (xD). But meh. I mean, unless one of those people came on here and insulted anyone by saying, "The AP Chem test was such a joke and if you thought otherwise you're an idiot," then yeah I'd be a little more vocal. I'm ambivalent anyway...

I think that I've learned well this year that unless I actually need a 5 because I'm going to be majoring in the subject, it's nothing to stress over. So I'm mellooooowww....

I have to agree with sunil7desu. I thought the chem test was ridiculously hard. Reading through this thread makes me feel like an idiot because I bombed the test.

MC was actually pretty nice, esp. compared to the 2007 MC, and compared to AP Bio it made me happy. But the free response completely killed me. I left so many blank ... my class never did the lab that was covered in the test (and I just couldn't reason it out for some reason), and I just blanked on the reaction predictions, and I basically couldn't answer anything. I think my MC might boost my grade up to a 4 though :(

I bombed the free response haha but I will concede that the MC was rather simplistic (at least compared to what I was expecting) though I did run out of time. AP chem at my school is a joke; I very rarely did homework and we had a grand total of three labs (all of which constituted the class goofing off as usual only now with goggles and an apron). We never reviewed or did practice exams...my teacher only vaguely acknowledged the AP exam's existence a few days ago. I definitely passed, but I'm hoping for a 4.

Oh well, **** it, I already got into Harvard. Even if by some miracle I pulled off a five, I sincerely doubt that I'm adequately prepared to skip intro chem at the ivy league level...or any level for that matter. Good luck to everyone else and try not to stress!

^lmao .

It was 6 ligands. Not much "theory" I can speak of...just plain memorization of that rule

that **** was as *en hard as King Kong's * at arousal.

didn't know the gas equilibrium equation-totally made one up, and it was right :]

btw...when will the answers be put online? anytime soon ?? :D

what was that orgo answer? ketone or ester?

Ester .
ketone or ester?
Ester, a Ketone only has an O and not the O-C-O of the ester.

i always remember EASTER-> Ester......HAS MORE EGGS (O)...:)

ah i blew it. i thought i had orgo down and didn't think they would ask about an ester.
