Congradulations to all of those who were accepted :). I am applying under Regular Decision, and that 19% acceptance rate is beginning to frighten me. I've now seen people deffered with considerably better scores than mine. Of course, Brown is said to value less tangible attributes more...

nomir_dva - maybe so. i have what many said to be an outstanding "personal" aspect of the application, though my "tangibles" suffer (3.3 gpa, 4th decile rank, but excellent sat scores). i was deferred.

So far, it's:

11 accepted
11 deferred/rejected

50% early admit rate for cc...not bad at all...go CC!

hello. I am a PLME and you absolutely do not need to apply to both brown and the PLME to boost your chances of admission. The PLME only admits 20 kids in the ED round, and many of the acceptees only opted for PLME admission (not Brown+PLME). I also know some students in the program (specifically from Rhode Island - just an aside, it is significantly easier to be admitted to the PLME if you are a Rhode Island resident) who were deferred from the PLME then admitted in April. Good luck to all and congrats to those who were admitted!

accepted! :-)

accepted
feels awesome
yea, CC is posting good acceptances numbers ED

Accepted both Brown and PLME (I said yes to question 17, if anyone's keeping track). Good all around stats, great recs, original essay, average EC.

accepted!

oh dear. now i'm going to need a really good motivation to keep working for the rest of the year.

= )

My son was deferred admission too. I have to say the website notice was very supportive and still gave hope, however small the percentage of acceptance now into RD.

Class of 2005 (from a Brown link - now updated) Applications: 20% Accepted, 65% Deferred and 15% Rejected. I would think that stats do not change much over the years.

All the best to those students who were accepted. For the deferred and students who did not gain acceptance, you must have had a great high school career to date, otherwise, you would not have considered applying. All the best to you too! All will turn out well!

Thought all would be interested. This excerpt if from an article found on Brown website (11.29.04)

...

Brown received approximately 2,030 early decision applications and will mail notifications to applicants Dec. 10. Last year, 28 percent of the 1,898 students who applied early were admitted.

20% seems really low for RD.

Sorry if I was not clear: 20% of Applicants who applied ED were accepted for class of 2005 - see the more up to date stat - last year it was 28%

accepted..

deferred...

deferred.

congrats to everyone who got accepted though.

Deferred.

Ah well, back to the drawing board.

Congrats to all acceptees!

Congrats to all who were Accepted! As it turns out I won't be applying to Brown afterall, Penn accepted me. Best of luck to Deferrees and Rejectees.

Congreats chocoman!

It's also that those deferred/rejected may not want to post.
