Is there any statistics on this?
Are most of the not-accpeted EDs rejected or deferred? And how many of the deferred ones actually get in?

most are deffered. few people are rejected. and idk about the acceptance rate for deffered EDers

according to my interviewer, acceptance rates for deferred ED is about the same as regular decision applicants

I’m not sure about more people getting deferred. It seems everyone I know that applied was outright rejected, including myself, which is odd because our stats were in the upper half of current brown students, at least. I only know one person who got deferred, and she has worse scores, grades, and extracurriculars than I, or the others who applied, have.
I guess they just take strange people? :/

I think Brown outright rejects plenty of early decision applicants and yes, the acceptance fate for those deferred is the same as for the regular decision, around 9%, maybe lower this year.

Try not to take it personally, caseymh2010. It’s getting harder and harder to get into a school like Brown, they have way more qualified applicants than they have room for so beyond being qualified they look to build a diverse class.

“I think Brown outright rejects plenty of early decision applicants”

Ooo, sounds bad…by plenty, are you saying like over 50%?

^ Well RD, it’s EASILY over 50%, probably over 75%.

^ But someone said that most from ED are deferred, right?

ED ~ 60% are deferred and 20% are accepted/rejected.

This year, 20% ED applicants were accepted, 13% denied, rest deferred.

Brown says the acceptance rate of the deferred is the same as that of all RD applicants – which this year will be 9-10%.

^ Thanks swim and fireandrain~
