Official Brown Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

@pzzia777 I think it’s waaay too speculative to say that hah. All that we know is that as of now some people got an email and some didn’t

okay there you go I just got it

Yeah, it definitely seems to be just a reminder email. But due to the number of applicants, the email is sent out at various times, since sending it out all at once would probably crash the system.

yeah got it at 2:58pm EST…don’t think it means much

okay… Wow…

For now, at least, I can breath…

@pzzia777: Simple logic says that admitted students would like to know when decisions are released too, no?

Christ, relax. Not everything is a sign, hint, or clue about your decision. There’s absolutely no reason why that email would mean anything.

yeah not really sure why they bothered…what will be will be…don’t let decisions distract you from finals

I find it humorous that everyone becomes a conspiracy theorist as admissions decisions are nearing.

Distracted is one thing, getting worried because of a form email is another, haha.

Now I’m 100% distracted and worried.

Did anyone get an email asking for missing materials? I’m missing the IDOC and they haven’t ask me about it.

Does anyone know if the decision comes out in emails or mails or what?

@Nightwisher: The College Board notifies you about the missing IDOC; Brown doesn’t do that–at least, I wasn’t notified either. I emailed financial aid and they told me that as long as I got the IDOC in, they would revise/update the financial package if I was admitted. What I gathered from that was that the IDOC isn’t required to make an admissions decision, although I was a bit worried because they take aid into account. But probably they have enough information from the FAFSA and CSS profile? Just send it in as soon as possible. :)

@cptblee: They’ll email you when decisions are posted, and you can view them online. They also mail out decision letters.

@Cranberry Definitely try to tell them. Better than they don’t know anything about it.
I also received an award (not literally an award) in late March and I sent an email to them. I mailed the letter again with an updated mid-term report (with better grades) two weeks ago…

And @pzzia777 calm down! That email can’t mean anything!

I think it’s unfair to send updated midterm reports. If they are just in their evaluation, they won’t look at it.

Why is it unfair? It’s a better indicator of my GPA this term. Even if they don’t look at it, I will feel better since I won’t regret not trying to send one.

@hopeforthebest go ahead and send it in! can’t hurt! disregard Muaythai, he’s a disgruntled Canadian that has tried to rationalize his lower gpa as somehow being superior b/c it’s coming from Canada…I’m sure he doesn’t want to see more high gpa’s in the pool further diminishing his chances

@Muaythai calm down, man you seem a bit desperate lol
Nothing really “unfair” as theoretically you could submit a mid-term report as well, right?

I do feel a little desperate, haha. This is going to be a stressful two weeks. I actually can’t see anything wrong with updating midterm grades–not sure what I was thinking.

@Muaythai
I don’t know whether this would make you feel better, but if what nightwisher heard from the admission officer is true, we would likely know the decision in like 4 days
