Ah… I hate legacies -_-.

So does anyone have any idea how much it helps to be a first generation college student?

Needless to say, I will be a nervous wreck all week. :(

I think it helps, but the effect is rather minimal.

Really? I thought it was a big hook?

Magenta your info is completely wrong, legacies enjoy a 20-30% higher acceptance rate…

okay, so assuming that the 14th is when they release their first batch of decisions, we should be getting an email in 2 or 3 days giving us a heads up? and then around the 14th we should be getting another email with our decisions?

:O much closer than i thought. too nervous right now

I’m talking about first generation. First generation does not help that much.

i was just gona add that on their website it says this:
Please Note: Walk-In Counseling Sessions will not be available from 12-3 p.m. on Friday, December 21.

im guessing that might be because their sending out letters

I was told it was going to be the week of the 17th (with decisions released on the 21st)…but now we are hearing the 14th. This wait is killing me!!

Really 1st gen doesn’t help much? It’s rated as “important” on Michigan’s website

I’m not too sure then. Most colleges treat first-generation as a tipping factor. That’s what I’ve been told anyway. I’m first generation so if it helps more than I thought, good!

The 14th?!

THE WAIT IS KILLING ME!

First gen is definitely not a negative

Goblue13-who told you that the decision would be released on the 21st?

And Lauren who exactly told you that they’d be released on the 14th? I don’t know which to believe!!

Everyone don’t worry! We will all end up somewhere where we will be very successful and happy, lets all just try to relax these next 1-2 weeks

Hmm interesting, do they always release them on a Friday?

MrPres…where did you find ratings on Michigan website? And first generation…in this context isn’t that first generation to attend college?

sraval: Where did you learn legacies enjoy 20-30% acceptance rate? Wouldn’t that be half of Michigan?

@FlashBoy- I was told by my high school counselor who is really good friends with Michigan’s admission counselors

@mrpresident49- yes they tend to release on Fridays. Probably to avoid all the calls.

Sorry Kurz it wasn’t on their website like I thought. I saw it here: http://colleges..com/colleges/admissions/university_of_michigan-ann_arbor/170976.aspx

I think I might have seen it on about.com too but I can’t remember.
