^ In the same shoes as you mate. I need to get in so i dont have to go to out of the state and plus i need to share that apartment.

If I get admitted, I’m planning on hitting up the M Den with all my other admitted friends and going crazy. Wishful thinking.

But in all honesty i really dont mind if i get rejected i guess if that happens it happens. Plus this will only be what 10% of my life

Meh if i get in my friend buying me dinner so thats another bonus.

True. I know many people freaking out about college. Although I really, really want to go to Michigan, where I go to college is not the end of the world and it won’t define me. The ultimate goal of college, for me at least, is to get a good job and grow more as a person and although Michigan is a great place for that, it’s not the only place for that.

couldn’t have said it better myself. i already got into my safties penn state and rutgers, so at least i know i’m going to college

^ ya rutgers is also my safety so im pretty happy already. Its a fair school.

I just hope i dont meet pretentious people wherever i go. hahahahaha

Now I’m thinking I should’ve applied to another safety…

I already got into all 5 of my back up schools… just waiting for umich (top choice)

I guess worst case, OSU or wayne state

rutgers is a decent school but because i’m in state, soo many people from my school go there

^ Most likely you wont see them.

I got into my safety which was purdue. I got deferred by UIUC and rejected by my reach (Stanford).

Can I ask a question to possibly return this discussion at least briefly to the UM admission process? Several pages ago somebody mentioned recalculating GPAs. There was some back and forth about whether or not U Mich does this now or not. I couldn’t figure out if that was a yes or a no, and if it is a yes - what is included in the recalculation. So specifically:

Are freshman grades counted?

Are ALL courses counted (meaning also arts, health, etc)?

And If I’m understanding what was suggested:
- so an A of any kind (A- or A) gets 4 points? B of any kind (B-, B or B+) gets 3 points and so on?

And there is no weighting whatsoever for honors or AP etc.?

If you don’t know, please don’t speculate. But if anyone really does know because they are veterans to the process, or have close involvement in how things work now, could you please chime in?

Also, I’d like to remind everyone that in post 581, we all got a good indication from the school itself where things stand with respect to the admissions cycle. The fact that a U Mich rep chimed in in that exact moment (when things started to go very sideways on some talk of them just deferring people because they didn’t finish because of the volume) suggests to me that they ARE actually paying attention to these threads. I’d urge a tad more caution with what some of you are posting since decisions are not out yet. It’s not the time to sabotage yourself so be careful. Not my problem but my suggestion. Best of luck to all of you and thanks in advance if you do know the answer to my grade recalc question.

I only applied to MSU, Marquette and I’m gonna apply to Kzoo which isn’t really a safety. Thinking about Indiana, bc of the good Business school.

into all schools except michigan(purdue, illinois, osu, michigan tech)

@halflokum
They care a lot more about sophmore + junior year grades than freshman year (almost word for word from people that work at the admissions office).
I don’t want to speculate on anything so I won’t answer the other questions.

^michigan tech is the most expensive school to go to in michigan

JooHyo, nah michigan is more and so is all the private colleges. It was my backup backup, and i got a couple thousand in scholarships so the price wasnt bad.

Anyways college confidential is getting boring good luck to everyone hope you all get in adios.
