** Official Class of 2018 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

It’s a little late but is it normal for it to say LSA undeclared if you said preferred admissions into pharmacy on common app?

@Cookingmama can you give us the nature of your source (admissions rep, involved alumni, etc)? So we can gauge for ourselves how credible that info is?

@CookingMama68 are these legitimate sources of information? How did you find this information out? I know we would all love if decisions were released tomorrow, however it seems quite doubtful

Seriously doubt they’d be releasing on a Monday and also the day of FINALS for college students. Still thinking 20th, I would not trust a 1 post account that literally joined 10 minutes ago claiming they have “sources”

@CookingMama68, thanks for the input. I really hope you’re right. Fortunately, we’ll find that out in 15 hours (provided that my math is right…)

I’d love tomorrow, but at least admissions will not be released after 3pm on Dec 24 (except for those who received the January email) because the website will be shutting down:

“ITS Winter Break Information
Most ITS offices will follow the University schedule for Winter Break, closing at 3 p.m. on December 24, and reopening at 8 a.m. on January 2. Details about specific ITS services are available.”

I joined to spread my knowledge. Everybody relax-

My friend is an extremely influential alumni, and I’m just relaying the message of what I was told when I asked. I never said you had to believe me, it’s just what I’ve been told!

On the bright side, in the slim chance that admissions decisions are not released tomorrow, you kids have less than 9 days left until you find out! As each day without an admissions decision passes, you’re one day closer.

Stay positive, that’s my advice!

It’s not that I want to be deferred, but my stats have definitely improved: 4.0 midyear report, higher rank, and now dual enrolled at local university.

When deferred, is it like reapplying in entirety? Do you simply update your common app or is there another application? Do you have to write any more supplements? Curious!

Your EA profile is then forwarded to RD. I believe if you submit new test scores they will also be considered, as well as any semester grades that are finalized. You won’t have to redo any part of your app

Haha “in the slim chance that admissions decisions are not released tomorrow” - you seem really confident about that prediction.

Hey everybody, I don’t want to make a chance thread for this, but was wondering if I could have an opinion or two to calm me down a bit.

I did some research at Michigan over the summer and will soon be a coauthor on a paper published by a faculty member at the med school. Do you guys think that’s a significant enough accomplishment to overlook a 3.75UW gpa? I also have a 35 ACT, a pretty good number of extra curriculars and that gpa is with about 10 APs but with two Cs in Calc BC. U of M LSA is my first choice for a normal four year degree, so I’m hoping I won’t get deferred since I have no idea where else to apply in RD as an alternative. Do you guys think I have a pretty good shot at EA? Any opinions would be much appreciated!

@cabooser not all finals are tomorrow. My brother is already home from U-M. Also, why would finals have anything to do with admissions?

Sending out mass emails can cause server problems during finals that might interfere with the tests. This is all guessing though it could come tmrw if what @CookingMama68 says is credible!!!

Let’s just take a moment to think about how big this forum has become this weekend! It’s tripled in size! I think it had about 30 something posts Friday morning! The anticipation is building! Good luck this week everyone!

@cabooser we’ve already discussed this into the ground, but it will most certainly not cause server problems. The university most likely has a large, dedicated mail server, as they frequently have to send mass emails (not only for admissions).

Oh well I can’t think of any other reason then. I hope it’s tomorrow but I’m also trying to remain skeptical of “sources”

I think cookingmama’s source is mistaking. If they already chose not to release the 13th, then they might as well wait until this coming Friday or the 24th at this point. Why would they release the same day as Penn and Cornell (and YP)? They might as well wait a couple days for the withdrawals so that they can protect their yield. UofM probably has more overlap with Penn and Cornell than any other schools so I would predict they will not be released tomorrow… but at least it is something to look forward to!

Reasonably so, it is a new account…

Doesn’t UMich send emails a few days before decisions are released to inform applicants?
