Does anyone know when the decision comes out?
Hey guys! I just thought I’d post my stats.
Current School: Top 5 Public University
Major: Econ (Sustainable Development if I transfer)
High School GPA: 3.6 (Had a really terrible senior year which I explained in additional information)
College GPA: 4.0
Projected Midterm GPA: Probably in the range of 3.8-4.0
SAT: 2190 (670 CR 760 M 760 WR)
SAT II: Math 2: 760 Physics 720
ECs:
Involvement in economics clubs, some small volunteer work, and involvement in cultural organizations. Big thing is receiving several research funds to test out sustainability items
Strengths:
Really solid reasons for transferring, essays, and recommendations
Weaknesses:
I’m Asian, I’m taking many intro level classes
^ I applied to be a sustainable development major as well!
@disoriented128 That’s awesome! I’m really into sustainability. Columbia’s pretty unique in that it’s one of the only schools that offers this type of major. I got in last year but couldn’t go because of finances
Well I just saw that I spelled the name of an admissions officer incorrectly on my application in the section where it asks about how you found out about Columbia. Do you guys think that will cost me? I spent soooo much time on the application and I’m really not happy about not catching that before I submitted it. I checked it over so many times. Her name is spelled Meaghan, but I spelled it Megan.
@celinebentley I really don’t think it matters. I know it’s difficult but believe the admissions office when they say they focus on the whole application. If there were a series of typos in your essays, then it would be an issue. A minor typo such as the one you mentioned has zero effect on admissions.
@ModestoMoose Thank you so much for your reassurance! I just truly love Columbia, and I wish everyone good luck with all their transfer applications! I hope we all hear good things from at least one of our top choices!
Has everyone sent their SAT 2s?
I’m not applying as a transfer until next year, but could someone give me some tips for when the time comes?
Standing: 44 Credits after Spring Semester
School: State University, specializing in Environmental Issues
Current Major: Environmental Studies
Desired Major: Economics/Political Science/Sustainable Development
High School GPA: 3.0 (Poor Freshman/Soph grades, Grade Trend was positive Jr/Sr Years)
College GPA: 3.89
SAT: 1920 (M 700 CR 660 W 560)
Should I take the SAT again, or take the ACT?
Extra Currics: Freshman Class Chair of Undergraduate Student Gov’t, Student Representative on School Faculty Governance Board, Volunteer with Food Recovery Network- Syracuse Chapter, Intern with New York City Council (Summer of 2014), Member of Syracuse Habitat for Humanity
Other Notes: Underrepresented Student, Seeking Financial Aid
“Plea”: I wanted to study Environmental Policy, but I feel that a program Economics and Political Science would strengthen my understanding of Public Policy as a whole. In addition, internship opportunities are far and few between in Syracuse, and I need more field experience.
Your stats since college are impressive! You’ll be applying as a junior transfer, I’m guessing? So that means your high school stats weigh less, which is good because yours aren’t the strongest. the catch 22 with retaking SAT as a college student is that it’s a test meant for HIGH SCHOOL students. anyone who takes it in college should do better than what he/she did in high school. plus, you’ve already proven with your college gpa that you can handle college-level studies. just focus on continuing your improvement and you’ll have as fair a chance as anyone could as a transfer applicant… (which is pretty much very low for everyone)
Does Columbia accept around 100 transfers?
Hey guys! I’m pretty nervous for this, it’s like senior year all over again Q_Q Here are my stats…
Current College: Princeton University (I know what you’re thinking but I need to be in the city)

Weaknesses: I need quite a bit of aid
@jellymuffin I think they accept around 140-150
