@doctortillman I’m in the same boat, I didn’t apply anywhere else. So anxious
@ILRTransfer16 yah, @pearforsnail got in as a non-GT. Were your teammates both GT’s?
@cahanks do you think we’re screwed??
@RedBear2016 stay positive!
@doctortillman haha trying to! You too!
Also, what time of day (ET) did accepted applicants receive the emails??
@doctortillman things don’t look bright dude, but we won’t know for sure until we get the email. When did you get everything in? For now, just stay positive, but be prepared.
@pearforsnail likewise, when do you get all of your materials in?
@RedBear2016 no, none of us were GT.
@cahanks CALS is rolling admissions so if you got your stuff in late then that could be why you haven’t gotten and email yet. On the other hand I am pretty sure that ILR is not rolling admission.
That’s somewhat a relief, thanks, I had forgotten.
Again, while we wait, any activities you guys plan on doing?
I got all my application stuff in a week before the deadline.
I am 22, I went to SUNY Geneseo for two years. But what I really wanted to study was food systems, agriculture, and sustainability which Geneseo did not have. So I left, moved back home, hiked a good chunk of the Appalachian trail then started classes at a CC taking the requirements I needed for transfer to Cornell. GPA probably 3.7 and a lot of farm and agriculture oriented experiences. I have definitely taken the scenic route through college. I had a lot to say and talk about in my application essays.
Late August I was also able to get myself a phone conversation with the Director of Admissions at CALS who was so helpful, answered a lot of my questions and really encouraged me to apply after hearing my story.
Im waiting for the acceptance package in the mail. It’ll probably come Monday or Tuesday.
That’s good to hear. I sent mine info to CALS and they were extremely lazy with it. I feel wronged, because I called them every 2 days for 2 weeks to see if they had done anything with it. Alas, they hadn’t, so I just sent it to processing who dealt with it in less than 24 hours. I hope that doesn’t affect my decision. I guess I’ll be hearing back in a week or 2.
So do you guys think a bulk of the decisions are going to be released tomorrow? I read from last year’s thread that SHA doesn’t release decisions until after Thanksgiving!
Just depends! I read that admissions were delayed last year. Also, if your college admits on a rolling basis, as CALS does, then it’s also subject to when you got all of your materials in. But I’d say that most will probably know by Thanksgiving.
Good luck everybody! Praying for some good news this week!
Same to you! Hoping for the best!
Hey guys I found out about this thread too late, but I want to wish everybody good luck!
Thanks all! Best of luck to you all too.
P.S - regardless of what decisions we receive, we should post them so future transferees can use this thread as reference
Let’s hope we get our decisions tonight. But in most cases I think it’s safe to assume that our decisions will be posted within this week. Good luck to everyone!
I don’t wanna be one of those people that write 5 page essays about their stats so ill try and keep it short and simple…Do I have a chance?
Highschool stat: GPA 3.3
there were 5 intramural sports i participated in all year round, i was the captain for all of them.
I was on the roller hockey team
I worked at a movie theater throughout highschool, and volunteered at a childrens learning center.
—However, i am transferring in the spring 2017 semester of my sophomore year in college so i don’t know how much weight Cornell will put on my high school stats.
College Stat: GPA 3.75
I am on the men’s basketball team at my college. (we are D2) Also, I am hoping they take into account how much i practice, and my GPA. Even though i am not going to be playing for Cornell, i hope they see a student-athlete with a high GPA as a big plus.
I am going to be working at a Marriot for about six months before i apply.
My dad is a Hotelie. Also, i worked at my dads hotel when he owned one.
I am in my fall semester of my freshman year. I go to a small liberal arts school in Alabama.( i am asking this question because i dont wanna get my hopes just to be rejected lol)
^Do you mean Spring 2016? If you are transferring Spring 2017 you still have a lot of room to beef up your resume, and maintain that/get a higher GPA. By that time they won’t weigh your highschool accomplishments that much, but they may look at the rigor of the school you attend.
Work hard and apply :)! Keep up that GPA and get more work experience and I think you will definitely be a competitive candidate.
