I got it!
thisdude415, I second your surprise at the personalized letter.
Gotta love the case it comes in too.

Received the letter reminding me of the 24K + Honors. Was hoping to get the full tuiton since I’m not eligible for need based aid.
1530 SAT, top 5 % of 750 in graduating class, admitted with full tuition scholarships to three other schools. Tulane was my 3rd choice-still waiting to hear from top three. Hoping for Brandeis.

Writing on my dad’s username –
I just got the acceptance via UPS.
My stats: 2330 SATs (800 CR and W, 730 M)
~4.4 GPA (W)
My school doesn’t do class rank, but I’m in about the top ten
I have two AP exams taken: 4 in U.S. History and 5 in English, with three APs underway
My ECs have bounced about during the years, but I’ve been President of the Philosophy Club and a member of clubs like French Club, Italian Club and Film Club. Also, I was a tech/crew member of my school’s various drama productions this year only. During the previous summer I attended the NYLC program in D.C.
My project consisted of creating the element Tulanium, number 175 (like in the periodic table of elements) and then writing a newspaper article about the discovery of the element and its various properties – written as a very thinly veiled metaphor for the university. It mixed serious research with some funny sections.
Congratulations to all recipients!

i got it too!!!

ACT: 34
GPA: 4.6 weighted

decent ECs, really good rec. my project was a board game of my life in high school

After yesterday’s disheartening realization with the FedEx representative that I would not be getting the Deans Honors Scholarship, I came home today to a huge UPS package from Tulane University. It had to be one of the greatest moments of ecstasy I’ve ever enjoyed. Here are my statistics once again. The number of applicants on the letter is also clearly 1000. It also said that the 1000 applicants were of “unprecedented strength and quality” which means I must tip my hat off to everyone who applied, and congratulate them upon their acceptance to Tulane’s strongest Freshman class.

SAT Superscore (2280) 800 M 750 R 730 W

ACT 33, I’ve gotten 36s on all sections except English, it seems I can’t piece them together though

Rank: 4th out of 363 One of the best schools in SC (although that’s not saying a lot)

ECs: Founded Latin Club, Treasurer of NHS and Chess Team, Varsity soccer player

No hooks whatsoever

Project: Intriguing, yet not sophisticated. I used invisible ink to write “mankind” in the box, and my whole essay was about man striving to find the truth and beauty of mankind. Then one could take the pen (mankind’s light) and uncover mankind. Tulane apparently saw the connection I had forged between empathy and Tulane’s overall goal.

Cauliflower - Thrilled for you that you turned out to be mistaken! Congrats.

Congrats everyone!

I got denied. ****.

Interesting that they used UPS this year. Tulane seems to have some special arrangement with Fedex (they offered an arrangement to ship stuff for move-in day with Fedex and there were several tractor trailers from Fedex lining the street next to the student center when we arrived) and there is a Fedex office in the student center, not a UPS office. Wonder if thats gonna change…

Bah, I didn’t get it either. Sigh, looks like I’m going to my state’s public university.

I havent recieved anything yet. Ive been staring out my window for the past 48 hours waiting, but no reply…

aznschoolboi22, I’m in the same boat. Unless they give me a really nice need aid package…

My stats are: 2240 SAT, 3.85 UW GPA, project was using the box as an exchange student from New Orleans and showing him around my city and the things I like to do.

(Honestly, if you’re considering doing this, and it’s too late now but whatever, I’d suggest that you don’t read what other people are doing. It needs to be unique and other people’s projects will influence your thoughts…)

Congratulations to everyone who got it! It’s amazing how many CC-ers got it…

lafayette - can’t speak for the others, but I got to CC because of the DHS. When you Google it to find out more info, the CC threads come up pretty high, so…

75 people got it, and so far i count 6 on CC.

Cauliflower–
The error was mine!! I just got back into town and looked at my s’s DHS from last yer. It did say they had 10,000 applicants (cant believe there were only 1000 this year-- soemthing is odd) but I digress— I looked at the package it was in-- it was UPS, not fedex :o

D got the UPS package 5pm yesterday so they are sending them out at different time. After reading this post, I gave up all hopes! Stat: 34 ACT, 4.0 unweighted, 4.75 weighted, valedictorian and the usual large amount of EC that all these kids are doing.

Hi krug - I suspect they sent them all out at the same time, although certainly possible yours was mailed a day later than the others by mistake. More likely UPS just didn’t deliver it on Friday like they were supposed to, and I think they don’t deliver on Saturday if considered a “routine” package (in the sense that it was not designated for Saturday delivery). What was the date on your letter, and what was the date on the shipping envelope as to pick-up? Just curious. Happy Mardi Gras, and congrats to you and your D. My D still floating on a cloud. Where else is yours considering?

We live in KS so that might have made a difference. I can’t tell you the date of the letter since D took it to school. She is also a finalist for a MOOG scholarship at WashU (4 full tuition and I think 4 half), they will fly her out at the end of March for an interview. U of AZ also flew her out last weekend because she’s a NMF, if she goes there, it will be 2K for tuition/room/board!! We will go to Honors weekend in March to check it out and hopefully narrow her choices.

I just received my mail today and still no rejection letter. I’m hoping UPS is just taking forever delivering it. I live in Indiana, and we currently have a lot of snow, so I’m hoping that is what’s delaying it. I’ve tried calling UPS and Tulane, but UPS will only give me information if I have a routing number, and Tulane is closed due to Mardi Gras. So right now I’m just hoping I get an amazing Mardi Gras present tonight!

Allykat - we are hoping with you!!

Allykat, I’m in the same position! I haven’t received anything as of yet, and I live in Memphis. So I’m not sure if Tulane hasn’t sent some of them out yet, or if UPS (or USPS) is just being slow. I hope its UPS!
